About the role

Are you passionate about regional Queensland and ready to help drive collaboration that leads to real outcomes? We're looking for a temporary Principal Regional Collaboration Officer to join the Manufacturing and Regional and Rural Development division in Mackay.

This role places you at the heart of Queensland's regional development efforts. A typical day might see you on the phone with a senior government officer to unpack a local challenge, then in a meeting with cross-agency stakeholders developing a shared response to an emerging regional priority. You could be coordinating meaningful participation in a regional network meeting, guiding a regional work-plan aligned to government goals or reviewing local intelligence to shape strategic decision making.

You'll build and maintain strong relationships with Regional Networks, providing expert support to strengthen regional leadership and drive meaningful collaboration.

You'll help turn innovative, place-based ideas into real-world initiatives by guiding interagency teams through complex project landscapes. With a strong focus on strategy and governance, you'll ensure that cross-agency efforts stay aligned, well-coordinated and outcomes-focused. Whether it's writing high-quality advice, shaping governance frameworks, or simply being the go-to person for smart, local insights this role is all about helping Queensland's regions thrive.
