About the role

The Firm

Paradigm is a San Francisco-based investment firm focused on frontier technologies across the globe, with over $11 billion in assets under management. We make investments in companies and protocols at all stages, ranging from early-stage venture financing rounds to growth equity to liquid assets.

Paradigm was founded in 2018 and is co-led by managing partners Matt Huang and Alana Palmedo. We’ve been hard at work investigating the world’s most beautiful technical problems since day one. Our research-driven approach helps us build relationships with founders and entrepreneurs, but it also reflects our broader goal of accelerating the progress of frontier technology.

The Role

We’re looking for a Receptionist to support the working environment for the brilliant minds of Paradigm’s SF workspace, which hosts our portfolio companies. This person would be responsible for day-to-day office operations, including light vendor management and ensuring a safe and productive working environment. We expect someone in this role to be a self-starter with a high degree of professionalism, good judgment and a proactive problem solving approach.

This person would join our high-performing admin team, and would report to Paradigm’s Office Operations Lead. The admin team today serves as the air traffic control group that helps Paradigm succeed, in addition to being guardians of Paradigm’s team culture.

While Paradigm is a hybrid firm, with employees coming in Monday-Wednesday, this role would be expected to be onsite Monday through Friday.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with building management, facilities and other office-related vendors to ensure a safe and well-maintained work environment; process related work orders, and ensure follow-up
  • Coordinate with the IT department
  • Manage visitor access and greet visitors upon arrival - we frequently meet with founders of our portfolio companies who are important to our business, so first impressions are crucial
  • Receive and sort incoming mail and deliveries, and manage outgoing mail
  • Manage office supplies inventory and place orders as necessary
  • Develop office policies and procedures, and ensure they are implemented appropriately
  • Identify opportunities for process and office management improvements, and design and implement new systems
  • Manage and support requests from employees and Portfolio employees with a positive attitude
  • Collaborate with our Office Operations team to support consistency across offices, ad hoc projects, and events

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and relevant work experience
  • Strong organizational skills & ability to multitask
  • Evidence of grit: the ability to adapt and overcome in rapidly changing situations
  • Excellent written and oral communication; diplomatic and professional demeanor at all times
  • Fluent in Google office platforms and Microsoft Office, with a proven ability to manage time efficiently and prioritize multiple stakeholders, functions, and tasks
  • High levels of integrity and discretion

Attributes

  • Exceptional team player; people-oriented
  • Self-starter and highly proactive
  • Extreme open-mindedness
  • Great listening skills
  • Clear and concise communication
  • Attention to detail
  • Empathy toward the concerns of others, both within and outside Paradigm
  • Adaptability in rapidly changing circumstances
  • Highly curious; fast learner
  • An overall positive attitude
