About the role

Are you an experienced IT professional who enjoys solving complex technical challenges and delivering reliable, secure systems? Do you want to work in a unique environment where your expertise directly supports the operation of Queensland's democratic institution?

Queensland Parliament is seeking a skilled and motivated IT Systems Engineer to join our IT Services team. This role offers the opportunity to work across a diverse technology environment, supporting critical ICT infrastructure, enterprise systems and major technology projects that enable the business of Parliament.

Working as part of a collaborative team, you'll rotate between Systems Operations and ICT Projects, giving you the opportunity to deepen your technical expertise, contribute to strategic initiatives, and play a key role in maintaining the secure and reliable operation of Parliamentary ICT services.

Key Objectives

  • Maintain secure, reliable and high-performing ICT systems that support the Queensland Parliament.
  • Lead and contribute to the delivery of technology projects and system improvements.
  • Provide technical leadership and collaborate with stakeholders to deliver quality ICT outcomes.

Your Role

  • Monitor, maintain, secure and optimise ICT infrastructure, networks, software, databases and enterprise technology systems.
  • Ensure critical ICT systems are fully operational to support Parliamentary Sittings and Committee Hearings.
  • Lead the technical response to service disruptions, outages and system performance issues.
  • Provide third-level technical support and coordinate with vendors to resolve complex issues.
  • Undertake proactive maintenance activities including patching, upgrades, configuration changes and vulnerability remediation.
  • Lead the design, build, implementation and deployment of new technology solutions and ICT projects.
  • Work with business stakeholders and vendors to develop solutions that meet organisational requirements.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, procedures and support materials.
  • Provide technical leadership, mentoring and knowledge sharing across the IT Services team.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to deliver secure, sustainable and customer-focused ICT services.

What We're Looking For

  • Demonstrated experience supporting and administering enterprise ICT environments.
  • Strong technical knowledge across infrastructure, networks, servers, applications and cloud or hybrid technologies.
  • Experience leading or contributing to ICT projects and system implementations.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues and coordinate effective solutions.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • A collaborative approach with a commitment to customer service and continuous improvement.
  • Experience working with vendors and service providers to achieve successful outcomes.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively in a dynamic environment.

What we Offer

At Queensland Parliament you'll see democracy in action. You'll collaborate with talented colleagues across disciplines, contribute to projects that matter, and build a career you're proud of, supported by leadership, mentoring and wellbeing initiatives.
