About the role

As a disability and access specialist and testing coordinator, you’ll be part of an inclusive network designed to empower, uplift, and celebrate the diverse ways students learn, communicate, and thrive. You will regularly help students with accommodations, acting as an advocate and helping them find a community in which they feel comfortable at The University for Creative Careers.

To support the office of disability resources (ODR) mission, you’ll:

  • Coordinate all center activities and functions related to student scheduling, including documentation and communication
  • Maintain a professional testing area, implement and monitor all exams, and make process-and-policy-related improvement recommendations to your supervisor
  • Review student and exam information to ensure alignment with course parameters; manage a database of student and exam information for reporting of services rendered, trends, and center needs; and assist in department assessments and evaluations
  • Develop and implement training and education opportunities for students, staff, and faculty regarding testing processes, policies, and exams
  • Coordinate and communicate with ODR staff, students, and faculty to accommodate the testing center schedule; and follow testing location guidelines, and the procedures in conjunction with the faculty requests

As a specialist and coordinator, you’ll:

  • Establish a high degree of student rapport; maintain test, accommodation, and testing area confidentiality and security; and assess documentation to determine reasonable academic adjustments per legal guidelines
  • Demonstrate a calm, professional, positive and friendly demeanor throughout the testing process to answer questions tactfully and appropriately
  • Conduct interactive reviews, collaborate on housing accommodation decisions, and participate in efforts to improve location-wide accessibility and disability inclusion
  • Deliver structured support for executive functioning in both group and one-on-one settings
  • Develop and deliver psychoeducational programs and presentations

Ideal candidates will demonstrate:

  • Strong interpersonal, organization, multitasking, and communication skills
  • An ability to maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive information
  • An eye for details and the ability to connect with diverse populations in a fast-paced environment

Minimum qualifications

  • Master’s degree in rehabilitation counseling, counselor education, psychology, special education, social work, or a related field
  • At least three years of relevant experience in disability services, testing coordination, or student support
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and adaptive technologies
  • Knowledge of ADA, Section 504, and disability-related legislation
