About the role

Please note - this role requires you to be office-based Monday to Friday, 9:00am - 5:00pm

About QBCC

As Queensland's independent building and construction regulator, we play a critical role in protecting people, supporting industry and building trust in a system that touches every part of our community, from safe homes and liveable communities to jobs and economic security.

We support more than 120,000 licensees, protect consumers, and uphold standards to strengthen our $59 billion industry and build trust across the community.

Our role is to help prevent issues before they arise, support informed decision-making, and take regulatory action when standards aren't met.

About the role

As a Customer Service Officer in our Rockhampton office, you'll help customers make sense of information and understand their next steps. You'll listen to their needs, answer questions in person, by phone and email and explain information clearly, supporting people who interact with Queensland's building and construction industry.

At the heart of the role is helpful, practical service—making each interaction easier for the customer. Whether you've supported customers in retail, hospitality, a contact centre or another service environment, this is an opportunity to put those transferable skills to work supporting your community.

You'll also enter data and maintain records, with attention to detail being essential to keeping information accurate and up to date.

About you

You enjoy helping people and bring a customer-first approach, whether your experience comes from retail, hospitality, a contact centre or another service environment. You listen carefully, communicate clearly and take the time to understand what customers need.

You're comfortable handling challenging conversations with patience and professionalism, staying calm and focused on helping customers understand their options. You recognise when an enquiry is complex or outside your knowledge and refer it to the right person for support. You also have a keen eye for detail ensuring accuracy in everything you do.

How to apply

We'd love to hear from you! Take a look at the attached position description to learn more about the role, then submit your resume and a cover letter of no more than two pages.

Tell us what interests you about joining our team and your customer service experience.

Please note a current QLD Drivers Licence is a mandatory requirement for this role.
