Ready to lead, empower, and drive operational excellence across multiple health centers in Maryland?

Planned Parenthood of Maryland (PPM) is seeking a dynamic, strategic Area Manager – Health Center Operations to oversee operational performance, leadership development, and service delivery across health centers in North/Central Maryland. If you are an experienced multi-site healthcare leader passionate about coaching managers, fostering a culture of accountability, and expanding access to high-quality, non-judgmental reproductive healthcare, this is the role for you!

Inside the Role

Reporting directly to the Senior Director of Clinical Operations, the Area Manager serves as a key field-based operational leader responsible for the performance, quality, and strategic execution of PPM health centers in Baltimore, Towson, Owings Mills, and Frederick. In this role, you will directly supervise, coach, and mentor Health Center Managers, ensuring that each clinic delivers exceptional, patient-centered care while achieving its operational, financial, and access goals. Operating with an 80% on-site and 20% remote cadence, you will regularly visit health centers across Maryland to observe clinic flow, support site leadership, and align daily operations with organizational policies, regulatory requirements, and strategic priorities.

Your Day-to-Day Impact

Operational Oversight & Access: Monitor patient access, provider productivity, visit volume, and operational workflows across health centers, partnering with Health Center Managers to eliminate barriers and optimize clinic flow.

Leadership Development & People Operations: Directly hire, onboard, manage, and develop Health Center Managers. Conduct structured performance reviews, support succession planning, foster sharing and learning within the team, and nurture high team morale and accountability.

Financial Stewardship: Partner with senior leadership to monitor revenue, expenses, and budget variances. Review monthly financial reports and support revenue cycle performance, documentation integrity, and billing compliance.

Quality, Safety & Regulatory Compliance: Ensure full health center compliance with OSHA, Title X, Medicaid/Medicare, PPFA accreditation, and clinical quality standards, in close partnership with clinical leadership.

Patient Experience & Service Recovery: Promote a culture of patient-centered care across all locations, analyzing patient satisfaction data and guiding managers on effective service recovery processes.

Strategic & Community Engagement: Support organizational growth and service expansion initiatives while representing PPM in community partnerships and professional healthcare forums.

Work Schedule and Travel Requirements

On-Site / Remote Balance: 80% On-Site (field-based leadership across health centers), plus 20% Remote support.

Travel: Regular travel between multiple PPM health center locations throughout North/Central Maryland.

Transportation: Must possess a valid Maryland driver's license, reliable personal vehicle, and auto insurance in compliance with Maryland vehicle code requirements.

What You Need to Succeed

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Nursing, Public Health, or a related field required. (Master’s degree strongly preferred).

Leadership Experience: Minimum of five (5) years of progressive leadership experience in healthcare operations. Minimum of three (3) years directly supervising healthcare leaders or multi-site ambulatory/clinic operations.

Technical & Strategic Competencies: Deep understanding of ambulatory healthcare operations, financial/budget management, regulatory compliance (OSHA, Title X, Medicaid), and quality improvement processes.

Systems Proficiency: Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, EHR/EPM systems, and data analytics tools to evaluate clinical productivity and financial trends.

Certifications & Licenses: Active CPR certification required upon hire.
