About the role

Mid-Atlantic Truck & Equipment

Shop Porter | Chesapeake, VA

Are you someone who takes pride in a job well done and enjoys staying busy throughout the day? Mid-Atlantic Truck & Equipment is looking for a dependable, self-motivated Shop Porter to help keep our busy shop, parts areas, and facility grounds clean, organized, and ready for the team.

This is a hands-on role with plenty of variety, giving you the opportunity to work both indoors and outdoors while supporting the technicians and the overall operation. From keeping shop areas clean and organized to maintaining the grounds, handling trash, and jumping in to help wherever needed, your work will have a direct impact on keeping the facility running smoothly.

We’re looking for someone who is reliable, proactive, and takes initiative—someone who notices what needs to be done and is happy to jump in. A background in custodial, janitorial, facility maintenance, or other hands-on work is a plus, but we’re also willing to train the right person.

If you enjoy working with your hands, staying active, and being part of a team where your work is appreciated, we’d love to hear from you!

Ready to GEAR UP for success? Apply today and join our team!

  • Two weeks of PTO during your first year
  • $200 annual boot allowance
  • Employee Assistance Program
  • Employee Referral Program
  • Company uniforms and company phone provided

What You’ll Do

  • Keep the facility clean, safe, and ready for the team by sweeping shop floors, emptying trash, cleaning bathrooms, washing windows, and keeping work areas free of debris
  • Pitch in and support the shop and warehouse teams with hands-on tasks such as loading and dumping forklift hoppers, cleaning equipment, keeping technician bays organized, and helping wherever needed
  • Maintain the grounds and outdoor areas by mowing, weed trimming, spraying weed killer, and keeping the property looking clean and well maintained
  • Help with basic facility upkeep including changing light bulbs, touch-up painting, and other minor maintenance tasks
  • Operate a forklift and company vehicle to move materials and equipment and make local parts pickups; forklift training/certification will be provided
  • Keep cleaning supplies stocked and organized and provide friendly, helpful support to customers, technicians, warehouse staff, and other team members

What We’re Looking For

  • A dependable team player with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to perform physical tasks, work indoors and outdoors, and manage a variety of responsibilities
  • Forklift certification preferred (or willingness to obtain)
  • Strong communication and time-management skills
