About the role

About Pulley

Pulley helps the country’s top architects, builders, and retailers speed up every project in their portfolio. With AI-powered permitting intelligence and expert guidance, we eliminate costly delays and bring predictability across the full lifecycle of commercial projects.

Today, permitting is the slowest, most uncertain part of building, spread across 19,000+ jurisdictions with different rules, timelines, and surprises. Pulley gives project teams the clarity and predictability they need to move from planning to opening without delays.

We support rollout programs for brands like J.Crew, Solidcore, and Hibbett Sports, as well as major data center buildouts, EV charging networks, and other commercial projects. Our platform dramatically reduces approval timelines, improves forecasting accuracy, and removes thousands of hours of manual work from design and construction teams.

Founded in 2021, Pulley combines deep permitting expertise with purpose-built AI from people who have created products used by millions. We’re backed by CRV, Susa Ventures, Fifth Wall, and leaders from Plaid, Segment, ServiceTitan, and Procore.

🧑💻 The Role

Pulley is growing quickly, and we're hiring a Senior Recruiter to own hiring across Sales, Marketing, Business Operations, and other G&A functions. You'll work directly with function leaders to help Pulley navigate our next stage of growth.

Many of these won't be cookie-cutter searches. You'll need to understand the business need behind a hire, turn it into a clear talent strategy, find the right people, and help us close them.

We're looking for someone who can operate as both a recruiter and a talent partner: excellent at execution, but also able to bring judgment, market knowledge, and a point of view to the hiring process.

📋 Key Responsibilities

  • Own full-cycle recruiting across Sales, Marketing, Biz Ops, and other G&A roles
  • Partner with founders and hiring leaders to define roles and build search strategies
  • Build strong pipelines through targeted sourcing, market mapping, referrals, and creative outbound
  • Develop a deep understanding of each function you recruit for so you can evaluate candidates beyond what's written on a resume
  • Bring market data and candidate feedback back to hiring managers and recommend changes when a search isn't working
  • Build trust with candidates and help close them through competing opportunities and offers
  • Maintain a high and consistent hiring bar while helping teams make fast, well-informed decisions
  • Own your recruiting funnel and use data to identify where we can improve conversion, speed, and/or candidate quality
  • Help build the recruiting processes, tools, and infrastructure Pulley will need as the company continues to scale

👋 Who You Are

  • Track record of full-cycle recruiting across Sales, Marketing, Business Operations, or other G&A functions
  • Strong at sourcing and market mapping; you're comfortable starting a search with a blank page
  • Have successfully recruited for both repeatable roles and harder, more ambiguous searches
  • Able to quickly understand a business function and develop a credible point of view on the talent needed
  • Comfortable partnering directly with founders and executives
  • Strong candidate judgment and able to clearly explain why you're excited about someone
  • Experienced closing strong candidates in competitive processes
  • Highly organized and able to manage several different searches without losing speed or attention to detail
  • Builder-minded, data-driven, and constantly looking for ways to make recruiting work better
  • Able to understand what makes Pulley compelling and sell the opportunity authentically to candidates
  • Eager to work on-site in Manhattan 3x / week
