About the role

About us

We see the semiconductor industry as a realm of possibility. We see opportunity. We see the profound impact that our graphene solutions will have in transforming the industry. We invite you to join us in driving change with our fundamentally human-centered approach, uniting bright minds around a shared vision. The vision is: Prove to everybody that you can make a fundamental change. Prove with your knowledge and skills how things can be done differently. Together, we can change the paradigm of how the world connects

About our technology

The semiconductor industry’s growing demand for more powerful chips with higher bandwidth and lower power finds its solution in our technology. We connect chips to high-throughput, low-delay computing networks. The key lies in harnessing the physical properties of graphene to combine electronic computing with photonic communication, allowing countless chips to interact almost as if they were one. Our graphene photonic innovation increases computing power and efficiency to a new order of magnitude

In short, we connect chips to create powerful and energy-efficient networks, overcoming connectivity limitations in the semiconductor industry. We deliver the graphene solution

The Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer at Black Semiconductor to lead the mechanical design, upgrading, and installation of facility plants and mechanical systems.

The role covers critical facility infrastructure, including chillers and heat pumps, compressors, Make-up Air Handling Units (MAHUs), HVAC systems, exhaust systems, water distribution systems, and steam generators.

You will coordinate engineering companies, vendors, and suppliers to ensure the successful execution of mechanical engineering activities and contribute to the continuous improvement of facility plants and systems.

To join our team, you should be excited to

  • Lead the mechanical design, upgrading, and installation of facility plants and mechanical systems.
  • Coordinate engineering companies, vendors, and suppliers throughout design, upgrading, and installation activities.
  • Prepare and upgrade plant procedures, control plans, and Out-of-Control Action Plans (OCAPs).
  • Lead the preparation, modification, and improvement of FMEAs.
  • Lead root cause analysis investigations and prepare reports using methodologies such as 8D, Fishbone diagrams, and 5 Whys.
  • Drive problem-solving activities and improvements related to mechanical plants and systems.
  • Act as an expert in mechanical engineering and be recognized as a technical reference within the organization.

Your Qualifications

  • 7–10 years of experience in Mechanical Engineering within structured companies, working with significant and critical HVAC systems.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, cleanroom HVAC systems, chillers, boilers, heat pumps, Make-up Air Handling Units (MAHUs), gas and liquid flow and pressure, mechanical plants, and exhaust systems.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to calculate pipe dimensions and mechanical plant capacities.
  • Fluent communication skills in English and German.
  • Basic knowledge of AutoCAD.
  • Demonstrated experience in cleanroom HVAC systems and complex mechanical plants.
  • Proficiency in reading and preparing technical schematics, engineering calculations, and blueprints.
  • Understanding of BMS (Building Management Systems) software.
  • Experience in FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) and resilience-oriented mechanical system design, ensuring reliability and robustness of critical facility infrastructure.
