About the role

WHY JOIN ALO?

Mindful movement. It’s at the core of why we do what we do at ALO—it’s our calling. Because mindful movement in the studio leads to better living. It changes who yogis are off the mat, making their lives and their communities better. That’s the real meaning of studio-to-street: taking the consciousness from practice on the mat and putting it into practice in life.

Overview

ALO is seeking a Senior Accountant for Korea to support financial reporting, general ledger accounting, and the month-end close. This hands-on role also supports local tax compliance, treasury activities, and accounts payable and receivable. Working closely with corporate teams and external partners, the Senior Accountant will help ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, maintain effective controls, and improve accounting processes.

Core Responsibilities

  • Own assigned areas of the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process, ensuring timely, accurate completion and proactively identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals and adjustments, supported by appropriate documentation.
  • Perform balance sheet reconciliations over assigned areas, investigate variances and reconciling items, and resolve outstanding issues promptly.
  • Analyze financial results and prepare variance analyses to support management reporting.
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly and annual financial statements and related disclosures.
  • Maintain effective internal controls and ensure adherence to Korean tax regulations, company accounting policies, and group financial policies.
  • Support external audits by preparing audit schedules and responding to auditor inquiries.
  • Lead initiatives to improve accounting processes, strengthen controls, and enhance operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with FP&A, AP, Legal, Treasury, and other departments to ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Support Korean VAT filings and reconcile input VAT with the National Tax Service (NTS) system.
  • Support Korean Corporate Income Tax (CIT) filing preparation and related tax accounting activities.
  • Support cash flow planning by monitoring cash balances and payment needs, providing inputs to local Finance and corporate Treasury, and coordinating payment documentation, bank inquiries, and foreign exchange reporting where required with Korean banks.
  • Support accounts payable activities, including vendor onboarding, bank detail verification, vendor statement reconciliations, payment proposals, and processing approved domestic bank payments.
  • Support accounts receivable accounting and cash application for standalone stores and department store concession settlements; reconcile sales and settlements to bank receipts and the AR subledger, including fees, refunds, and deductions, and follow up on discrepancies and overdue balances.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, with demonstrated ownership of accounting processes.
  • Hands-on experience with general ledger accounting, month-end close, and balance sheet reconciliations, including support for accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payment operations.
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP and a solid understanding of GL, AP, AR, month-end closing, and Korean VAT and tax regulations.
  • Strong understanding of internal controls and financial reporting processes.
  • Public accounting experience, preferably with a Big 4 firm, is preferred.
  • Experience in consumer products, retail, apparel, or eCommerce environments is a plus.
  • ASC 842 lease accounting experience is a plus.
  • Proven ability to manage deadlines in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to take ownership, prioritize competing deadlines, and drive projects to completion.
