About the role
Department Overview:
Clinical experience is often necessary to apply for admission to health care fields. Catalyst will provide individualized references and documentation of the time and hands-on experience that you gain by working with our families.
Catalyst is a pediatric personal care and respite agency licensed by the state of Wisconsin. Our clients are children and adolescents who have significant physical or cognitive disabilities. All our young clients live at home with their families in and around Dane County.
Working with Catalyst families offers valuable experience for people who plan a future working in the fields of health care, education or social work.

10-15 per week and more during school breaks
Schedule:
10-15 hours/week. more hours available during school breaks and summer. Schedules are flexible and are arranged directly with families depending upon your availability and their needs
Salary/Wage Range:
Hourly $20.00 to $20.00

Position Summary/Job Duties:
Every young client has different needs, not all of them physical. Duties may include:
Transfers into and out of wheelchair and bed
Assistance with ambulation as needed
Meal preparation and help with eating, toothbrushing reminders,
Accompany to community outings, to a park, to a medical appointment along with the parent.
Document cares provided on the appropriate paperwork
Use of the Sandata app to record arrival and departure times during each shift. This is an Electronic Visit Verification system required by the Federal government for all caregivers who provide care in clients’ homes.
Qualifications:
Reliable automobile transportation is required. Catalyst families live in towns just outside Madison
Families need stable and consistent care provided by mature and responsible people.
Any relevant hands-on caregiving experience will be considered:
Experience with a family member who has medical needs is especially valuable.
Certification as a nursing assistant suggests good experience but is not necessary.
Maturity, gentleness and attention to detail is required.
Ability to communicate effectively with the Catalyst supervisory nurse and client parents is crucial.
