Department Overview:
This set up of student caregivers, learning and performing many RN level care tasks has been operating since 2012 is an unusual set up with supervision by the physician parents of the patient who were medical educators in their careers. Most students stay at least a year and a half and some much longer.

Position Summary/Job Duties:
We are looking to hire 4 part time caregivers to work a total of 12 hrs or more per week. Pay is $17.85 per hr. There is a requirement for some weekend work and periodic overnight shifts. We would prefer candidates who are willing to make a 1.5 year minimum commitment but at least until May 2027. Twenty hours of paid training is provided. Candidates do not need to have any licensure or certificates. This job offers great direct patient care experience providing high level care often at the level of an RN such as starting and stopping IV fluids, making decisions about PRNs, performing wound care, following documentation protocols, coordinating with the team among others. This experience looks great on resumes and applications for health career pre-professionals as skills gained are detailed in recommendation letters. Care is for one patient in a comfortable home setting. Patient has very complex medical and treatment issues affording a heavy emphasis for all caregivers gaining a knowledge and skill base that exceeds what can be obtained in a hospital CNA job. Very supportive family and leadership of the caregiver team as patient's parents are physicians who were in their careers, medical educators. Join a group of 9 other students in this very team and educationally oriented position. Must not be smoker and be willing to wear N 95 mask. Must be ok to work with a standard poodle service dog. Must commit at least through December, 2027, though arrangements can be made for time away for vacations.
