Role Overview

NETGEAR creates innovative networking solutions for homes and businesses around the world, and we run our own business networking products across our sites. We're looking for a Network Engineer to own the network and site infrastructure at our Chennai office. This role sits within NETGEAR's global IT team and is fully on site at our Chennai office.

This is a hands-on technical role. You'll keep our Chennai network fast and reliable, work with our global network team to apply consistent standards and help colleagues get the most from their technology day to day. It's a high-ownership role on a global team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the day-to-day operation and health of the Chennai site network, including LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi and firewalls.
  • Apply and uphold global network and site infrastructure standards, working closely with the global network team.
  • Plan capacity and resilience for the Chennai network as the site grows.
  • Respond to and resolve network incidents on site and contribute to root cause analysis.
  • Design and support reliable, secure connectivity for our engineering labs and build infrastructure.
  • Act as a local face of IT, supporting colleagues with end-user technology alongside the service desk.
  • Work with local connectivity providers and vendors.
  • Partner closely with local engineering teams and peer IT teams globally.

Required Qualifications

  • 5-8 years in enterprise network engineering.
  • Strong hands-on experience with routing, switching, Wi-Fi and firewalls.
  • Experience supporting engineering or lab environments.
  • Strong network troubleshooting skills.
  • Working knowledge of end-user technology, such as Windows, macOS and Microsoft 365.
  • Strong communication skills and experience working with global teams.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Industry certifications such as CCNA/CCNP or equivalent.
  • Network automation or infrastructure as code, using tools such as Python or Ansible.
  • Experience with NETGEAR business networking products.
  • Network design for lab or test environments.
  • Exposure to cloud networking, such as AWS.

Eligibility to work in India is required. We are unable to offer visa sponsorship for this role.
