At Snowflake, your role isn't just to execute a function, but to help redefine the future of how work gets done.

As a Lead Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) – Migration Services, you will lead scoping, architecture and technical direction as FDE teams embed with customers to modernise their data and application ecosystems on the Snowflake AI Data Cloud. You will partner closely with customers to understand their business challenges, then design, build and implement modern data solutions on Snowflake. You'll act as a trusted technical advisor, helping customers unlock the full potential of their data, drive insights, power AI initiatives and achieve significant business value with Snowflake.

WHAT YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR

  • Migration Leadership: Work across multiple FDE teams, each focused on a specific customer. Set the architecture and technical direction as teams design, build and deploy the software systems, tooling and automation needed for customer migrations to Snowflake.
  • Software Development: Contribute directly to Snowflake's product, as every Migration FDE does. Build prototypes, contribute to feature development and fix the problems we find, helping shape the product roadmap and deepening your product expertise.
  • Customer Collaboration and Enablement: Provide expert technical guidance, mentoring and training to customer teams on using Snowflake effectively, including data management, analytics, AI/ML capabilities and BI/reporting integration.
  • Platform Implementation: Design scalable data pipelines and modern data architectures on Snowflake, ensuring data quality, integrity and efficient processing.
  • Performance Optimisation and Best Practices: Analyse and optimise data models, queries and processing workflows for performance, efficiency and cost. Champion Snowflake best practices.
  • Modern Data Solutions: Evaluate, recommend and implement modern data integration tools and techniques that help customers evolve their data capabilities.
  • Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve technical challenges, performance bottlenecks and operational issues.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Experience working directly with customers on complex, multi-faceted technical projects
  • Proficiency in one or more programming languages, such as Python, Go, Java or C++
  • Experience developing AI/ML applications
  • Strong understanding of data modelling, data warehousing, data lakes and cloud data platforms
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a customer-facing environment
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or a related field, or equivalent practical experience

PREFERRED

  • Experience delivering complex data and application migrations to the cloud

Travel: This role may involve up to 20% travel to collaborate with customers, teams and stakeholders.
