About the role

WHY JOIN ALO?

Mindful movement. It’s at the core of why we do what we do at ALO—it’s our calling. Because mindful movement in the studio leads to better living. It changes who yogis are off the mat, making their lives and their communities better. That’s the real meaning of studio-to-street: taking the consciousness from practice on the mat and putting it into practice in life.

OVERVIEW

The HR Manager manages the daily Human Resources functions at the Memphis Distribution Center. Reporting to the Director of HR and partnering closely with the On-Site Director of Operations and facility leadership, this role supports employees and managers throughout the employment lifecycle while ensuring HR practices align with company policies, operational objectives, and applicable employment requirements.

The HR Manager leads local HR operations, employee relations, onboarding, compliance, safety initiatives, HRIS administration, timekeeping support, benefits coordination, and process improvement. The successful candidate will exercise sound judgment, handle sensitive matters with discretion, and work effectively in a fast-paced operational environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage day-to-day HR operations for the Memphis Distribution Center and continuously improve HR systems, procedures, and standard operating procedures.
  • Monitor applicable federal, state, and local employment requirements; recommend policy updates; and support facility compliance.
  • Partner with internal or external legal counsel, as directed, when complex employment matters arise.
  • Respond promptly and accurately to employee and manager questions regarding policies, procedures, benefits, and HR programs.
  • Lead and continuously improve the employee onboarding process to provide a consistent, organized, and high-quality experience.
  • Maintain accurate employee records and employment data in Workday, including personal information, job changes, and employment history.
  • Partner with the on-site administrative team to coordinate employee training, identify leadership development needs, and arrange additional training when appropriate.
  • Work with the Benefits Manager to support benefits administration, paid time off, sick leave, leaves of absence, and employee assistance resources.
  • Investigate workplace accidents and claims, coordinate with claims adjusters, maintain appropriate documentation, and recommend measures to reduce future risk.
  • Advise and train managers and supervisors on employee relations, performance management, conflict resolution, workplace investigations, and employee grievances.
  • Prepare and submit Personnel Change Forms and other employee change documentation to Payroll; prepare separation notices and coordinate offboarding activities.
  • Conduct fair, timely, and appropriately documented workplace investigations.
  • Build trusted relationships with employees, managers, and business partners and promote effective communication and collaboration.
  • Handle employee information and other confidential matters with the highest level of discretion.
  • Partner with the Director of HR, On-Site Director of Operations, and facility supervisors to support compliance, workforce needs, and operational objectives.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • At least five years of progressive HR experience in a Human Resources Generalist, HR Business Partner, or comparable role.
  • Strong working knowledge of employee relations practices, HR policies, employment compliance, and HR operations.
  • Experience advising managers on performance management, workplace concerns, conflict resolution, and employee grievances.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct objective workplace investigations and prepare clear, accurate documentation.
  • Experience using HR information systems and maintaining confidential employee records.
