About the role

About Middesk

Middesk is building the data and intelligence infrastructure that helps businesses work together with confidence. We started by creating a comprehensive platform for understanding businesses, bringing together authoritative and proprietary data to help customers verify business identities, onboard customers faster, and manage risk throughout the customer lifecycle.

Today, Middesk is used by more than 700 banks and fintechs, and in 2025 we verified more than 7 million companies. We've also expanded beyond business verification to help companies form, register, manage, and maintain their businesses, supporting more than 50,000 companies in setting up over 100,000 accounts required to hire employees, run payroll, and stay compliant.

Middesk came out of Y Combinator, and is backed by Sequoia Capital, Accel, Insight Partners, and Canapi. We're proud to be named on the Forbes Fintech 50 and Best Startup Employers lists.

About Middesk Engineering

We believe "velocity" is the rate at which we effect realized value for our customers, not the rate at which we ship code. And this pushes us to center our work around customers; how will this change I'm about to make help our customers get jobs done?

When we’re coding, we're making hundreds of micro-decisions about user experience that add up. How can I communicate this exception to our customers in a manner that helps them understand what's happened and unblock themselves?

About The Role

We're hiring our first-ever Growth Engineer to join a small engineering pod that works directly with Marketing and GTM to bring more of the right customers to Middesk and help existing customers get more out of the platform. You'll ship features across the acquisition and expansion funnel - in-product trials, self-service onboarding, the middesk.com rebuild, expansion signal automation- instrument them, and use the results to decide what's next. Every project has a number attached to it.

What You'll Do

  • Ship features in the Middesk dashboard that let customers discover and trial new products in context, such as trial credits, side-by-side proof points, and in-product case studies that show the lift a product would deliver on the customer's own data.
  • Build and improve self-service onboarding so that smaller businesses can sign up, get value, and convert without a sales touch.
  • Own the engineering behind the middesk.com rebuild: site structure, performance, content written for both humans and AI agents, hosted demo environments, and the testing infrastructure that lets Marketing iterate without an engineer in the loop.
  • Work day to day with Marketing, Sales, and Account Management to understand what they're seeing in the funnel and turn that into a prioritized backlog.
  • Apply Middesk's internal agents to growth problems: account and contact enrichment, content research, topic curation, and funnel analysis.

What We’re Looking For

  • 5+ years shipping production web applications with strong full-stack fundamentals - we run Rails and React.
  • Deep comfort operating in ambiguous environments where assumptions and priorities change routinely.
  • Strong frontend skills and an eye for user-facing quality.
  • Comfort with SQL, analytics, and defining and defending a metric.
  • A track record of owning outcomes end to end, including measurement and iteration after launch.
  • Strong communication with Marketing, Sales, and other non-engineering partners.
  • Startup experience and a hands-on AI tooling workflow.

Nice-To-Have

  • Prior growth engineering, product-led growth, or experimentation experience, including A/B testing frameworks and funnel analytics.
  • SEO or AI search (AEO) experience, or experience building marketing sites that serve as a real acquisition channel.
  • Fintech, compliance, or identity background where data accuracy matters.
  • Former founder or early-stage startup engineer.
