About the role

Life insurance is a complex and consequential purchase that impacts hundreds of millions of Americans. With our powerful and integrated digital tools, expert support, and leading insurance products, we empower advisors to better serve their clients, grow their businesses, and bring the future of the industry to life.

We are a high-growth, AI-driven technology company backed by $35M from top-tier investors, including Thrive Capital (major investors in OpenAI, Stripe, Instagram, Spotify, Slack, and SpaceX), New York Life, and Northwestern Mutual.

Modern Life Workspace brings AI into the everyday work of financial protection, from case design and underwriting to policy review and advanced planning. We’re bringing it to carriers, brokerage general agencies (BGAs), and financial-protection firms to help their teams work faster and serve clients better.

We’re hiring a General Manager to build and lead the Workspace business. Reporting to the CEO, you’ll be accountable for its P&L and lead sales, implementation, and client relationships.

Workspace is still early, and the business is taking shape. You’ll work closely with our founder and CEO, who is leading the first client conversations. You’ll carry those forward, help clients see where Workspace can make the biggest difference, and turn early engagements into lasting relationships.

This will require close work with clients and our product team. You’ll need to understand how a client’s business operates, agree on what we can deliver, and work with their team to put Workspace into practice. You’ll work closely with product and engineering to turn client needs into capabilities that win business and deliver results.

What you’ll do

  • Lead the Workspace business, with accountability for revenue, pricing, delivery costs, and financial performance.
  • Lead enterprise sales. Lead discovery, demos, proposals, negotiations, and closing.
  • Determine which clients and use cases to focus on, and refine our positioning, pricing, and packaging as we learn.
  • Work with clients and internal teams to deliver them, measure results, and convert successful pilots into broader deployments.
  • Partner with product and engineering on client requirements, workflow improvements, and integrations. Help distinguish what a single client needs from what we should build for the broader market.
  • Establish onboarding and account management so clients adopt Workspace, get value from it, and expand their use over time.
  • Hire and lead the team as the business grows, and keep the CEO and leadership team informed about progress and investment needs.

What we’re looking for

  • Experience leading a business, business line, or new commercial initiative as a general manager, founder, or early operator.
  • A strong commercial track record, including responsibility for revenue and experience selling to senior enterprise leaders.
  • Product-management or business-operations experience preferred, including working closely with product and engineering when customer needs require the product to evolve.
  • The ability to take an engagement from initial discovery through implementation and adoption, and demonstrate the value delivered.
  • Good judgment about where to focus, what to commit to, and when to bring in additional people or resources.
  • Willingness to handle sales calls, customer workshops, implementation details, and account issues yourself while the team is small.

Former management consulting experience is preferred. Experience bringing enterprise software or applied AI products to market would be valuable, and experience building a business as a founder or knowledge of insurance and financial services would also be a plus.
