About the role

Location: Brussels, Belgium

Team: Global Affairs, EU Policy

Commitment: Full-time

Duration: 12 months

About the team

OpenAI’s mission is to ensure that general-purpose artificial intelligence benefits all of humanity. Our Global Affairs team builds collaborative relationships with policymakers and the broader AI policy community, ensuring that their insights inform our work and supporting the development of regulation, industry standards, and safe and beneficial AI tools.

About the role

We are looking for an EU Policy Analyst to join our Brussels team on a full-time, 12-month contract. You will analyze policy developments relevant to AI, contribute to OpenAI’s policy positions, and help advance engagement with EU institutions and the wider policy community. The role combines substantive policy work with the delivery of projects across the Brussels team’s priorities.

Key responsibilities

  • Analyze EU political and regulatory developments and assess their implications for OpenAI.
  • Develop policy research, briefings, and contributions to policy positions and consultation responses.
  • Contribute to engagement with policymakers, industry, and civil society on priority AI policy issues.
  • Coordinate policy projects and initiatives, working with colleagues and external partners to deliver agreed outcomes.

Desired experience and skills

  • Around five years of relevant experience in EU public policy, government affairs, institutions, consulting, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of EU institutions and policymaking processes.
  • Excellent research, analytical, and written communication skills, including the ability to turn complex material into clear, concise briefings.
  • Strong organisation, sound judgment, and reliable follow-through.
  • Interest in AI and its implications for society, public policy, and the economy.
