Based in Broome, this is a rare opportunity to combine senior clinical practice with strategic leadership, service development, clinical governance and medical education within one of Australia's most unique and culturally diverse regions.

The Opportunity

Working closely with the Regional Manager of Mental Health and AOD, you will provide clinical leadership across the Broome Hospital Acute Psychiatric Unit (APU) and regional community-based Mental Health and AOD services.

You will play a key role in shaping the future of mental health care across the Kimberley, supporting high-quality clinical services across a geographically dispersed region.

  • Supporting safe, evidence-based and high-quality clinical care
  • Providing clinical leadership across the Broome Hospital APU and regional community services
  • Supporting consultation-liaison psychiatry across regional hospitals
  • Working with clinical and operational leaders to develop and strengthen regional services
  • Ensuring services align with relevant mental health legislation, standards and WA Health strategies
  • Providing supervision, mentorship and professional support to psychiatry trainees and medical staff
  • Supporting education, workforce development and clinical capability across the multidisciplinary team
  • Contributing to service improvement, clinical innovation and strategic planning

  • A strong commitment to medical education and workforce development
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • A commitment to culturally safe and patient-centred care
  • The ability to work effectively across a regional and geographically dispersed service

Why Consider This Opportunity?

This is more than a senior psychiatry position — it is an opportunity to shape the delivery of mental health services across an entire region.

You will have the opportunity to:

  • Take on a significant clinical leadership position
  • Influence regional mental health service development and strategy
  • Work across a diverse and clinically rewarding caseload
  • Mentor and support the next generation of psychiatrists
  • Work alongside an experienced multidisciplinary leadership team
  • Develop your leadership profile within a major regional health service
  • Make a tangible difference to patients, families and communities across the Kimberley

  • Full-time permanent opportunity
  • Senior clinical leadership position
  • Professional development and education opportunities

  • Excellent regional lifestyle and access to the unique Kimberley environment

Discover Life in Kimberley region

Broome offers a lifestyle unlike anywhere else in Australia.

With its spectacular coastline, iconic Cable Beach sunsets, rich Aboriginal and multicultural heritage and close connection to the Kimberley wilderness, Broome provides an exceptional environment for those looking to combine a rewarding career with an extraordinary lifestyle.
