About the role

ICON is seeking a BIM Modeler to support the production, maintenance, and quality of BIM content and models across ICON's design teams. Working closely with the BIM Coordinator and BIM Manager, the BIM Modeler will be a hands-on production contributor responsible for authoring accurate, standards-compliant Revit models and content in support of active projects. The position combines model production, content placement, basic family work, data entry, and coordination support under established BIM standards and workflows.

The ideal candidate is a developing Revit user who takes pride in clean, accurate model production, follows BIM standards consistently, and is eager to build their technical foundation within a structured and fast-moving BIM environment.

As an ICONIC, you will be a reliable hands-on contributor within ICON's BIM team, supporting design and construction delivery with model accuracy, data quality, and standards compliance across concurrent projects. This role is based at ICON's Austin, TX campus and reports to the BIM Manager.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Model Production

  • Author and maintain Revit models for architectural and project-specific applications in accordance with ICON's BIM standards and templates.
  • Place, configure, and document model elements accurately per project scope and requirements.
  • Maintain model organization, view discipline, workset assignments, and file hygiene following established protocols.
  • Perform routine model maintenance including purging unused elements and resolving basic warnings under guidance from the BIM Manager.

BIM Content & Families

  • Place and configure standard Revit families from the ICON content library.
  • Perform and create families as directed by the BIM Manager.
  • Maintain file naming and organizational conventions for project-level content.
  • Flag content gaps, inconsistencies, or performance issues to the BIM Manager for resolution.

Parameters & BIM Data

  • Input and maintain model data in alignment with ICON's approved shared parameter structures.
  • Support schedule preparation and quantity extraction as directed.
  • Ensure model information is complete and consistent ahead of milestone deliverables.
  • Identify and escalate data quality issues to the BIM Manager for resolution.

Project Support & QA/QC

  • Execute project startup tasks as directed by the BIM Coordinator, including model configuration, workset setup, and template application per established ICON procedures.
  • Participate in model coordination workflows under direction of the BIM Coordinator, including attending clash review sessions and logging basic issue documentation.
  • Export and prepare models for coordination review in required formats (NWC, IFC, or as directed).
  • Implement feedback from the BIM Coordinator and BIM Manager promptly and accurately within the model.
  • Flag model performance, standards, and data-quality issues to the BIM Coordinator for resolution.

Standards & Process Compliance

  • Follow ICON's Revit templates, view templates, browser organization, and BIM Execution Plan requirements consistently.
  • Apply ICON naming conventions, annotation standards, and workset discipline across all model work.
  • Attend BIM coordination meetings and apply direction from the BIM team without disrupting active project delivery.
  • Participate in onboarding training and BIM workshops as introduced by the BIM team.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • 2–3 years of professional BIM/Revit experience in architecture, engineering, construction, or a related environment.
  • Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience working on AEC projects in architecture, engineering, construction, or a related environment.
  • Working proficiency with Autodesk Revit.
  • Understanding of core Revit concepts: views, families, levels, grids, worksets, and linked files.
  • Ability to follow BIM standards, templates, and project setup procedures consistently.
  • Strong attention to detail, model accuracy, and data consistency.
  • Ability to take direction clearly, ask questions, and escalate issues appropriately.
  • Basic organizational and documentation skills.

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering Technology, or a related field.
  • Experience creating or modifying Revit families, including basic parametric content, nested families, or annotation families.
  • Exposure to Navisworks or model coordination tools.
  • Familiarity with Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC).
  • Basic understanding of shared parameters and schedule workflows.
  • Exposure to Dynamo or scripting tools.
  • Experience with architectural or construction BIM workflows.
  • Familiarity with BIM coordination and multidisciplinary model environments.

PORTFOLIO: Applicants are required to submit a portfolio or work samples demonstrating Revit/BIM experience.
