About the role

In this role, you will help ensure employees are paid correctly, rosters are maintained, and workforce information is kept accurate and up to date. Working closely with managers and staff, you will play an important role in supporting the smooth running of the centre and helping maintain safe staffing levels.

This is a great opportunity to join a dedicated team and contribute to positive outcomes for young people while building valuable administration skills in a unique and rewarding environment.

This is an exciting permanent, full-time opportunity based in Woodford. Training is located at Wacol and Caboolture prior to the Woodford YDC opening.

Woodford YDC is a new facility, and as it continues to grow, some processes, ways of working and responsibilities may evolve. We are seeking people who are flexible, adaptable and committed to supporting the changing needs of a newly established centre.

While this role does not work directly with young people, it is based within a Youth Detention environment. As part of your work, you may be exposed to information relating to young people and their circumstances, requiring professionalism, discretion, and resilience.

Why join us?

  • Support services that make a difference by helping frontline teams deliver services to young people.
  • Develop your administration skills across payroll, rostering and workforce support.
  • Work as part of a supportive team in a busy and rewarding environment.
  • Enjoy career development opportunities within a large and diverse organisation.
  • Help support safer communities and better futures for young people.

About you

You are organised, reliable and enjoy working with systems and information. You have strong attention to detail and can manage multiple tasks while maintaining accuracy.

You enjoy helping others, can communicate effectively, and work well as part of a team. Experience in payroll, rostering or administration would be highly regarded, but most importantly you are willing to learn and committed to providing great customer service.

Interested in applying?

Please provide the following information in your application:

  • Your current resume should detail your previous work or voluntary experience and include two referees who have a thorough knowledge of your conduct and performance over the past 2 years, or an appropriate period. We will use your resume to assess how well you meet the ‘What are we looking for' statements.
  • Provide a short statement (of no more than two pages) telling us why you are interested in this role and outlining what your motivation is to join us. This should also summarise your skills, experience and achievements against the leadership competencies/capabilities and duties/responsibilities.

Note: Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander applicants applying outside of Smartjobs, may wish to include work samples, stories and experiences within community as part of their application. This can be provided directly to the Panel Chair.

Only persons eligible to work in Australia may be employed by the Department of Justice and Victim Support. Successful applicants may be required to undergo relevant pre-employment screening and provide evidence of their right to work in Australia.

Applications to remain current for 12 months.
