Looking for a Small Animal Role That Fits Around Life?

Acorn Vets is seeking a Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon to join our friendly and progressive team in Mallow, Co. Cork.

This is an excellent opportunity for a vet looking for a part-time position without compromising on clinical variety, professional development, or team support. Working three days per week alongside a shared on-call rota, this role offers the chance to enjoy a rewarding veterinary career while maintaining the work-life balance that matters to you.

Whether you're looking to reduce hours, return to practice, balance family commitments, or simply want a more sustainable working pattern, we would love to hear from you.

Enjoy Clinical Freedom and a Varied Caseload

You'll be responsible for consultations, medical case workups, diagnostics, surgery, and ongoing case management, working with a loyal and engaged client base that values continuity of care.

We trust our vets to make clinical decisions, manage cases appropriately, and practise medicine to a high standard. You'll have the autonomy to use your clinical judgement while working within a supportive environment where collaboration and case discussion are actively encouraged.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a vet who enjoys first-opinion practice and wants to work with a team that genuinely values quality medicine, teamwork, and professional growth.

A Supportive Team Culture

At Acorn Vets, we believe that great veterinary care starts with great teamwork.

You'll be joining a welcoming, experienced team that works closely together to provide high standards of patient and client care. We foster a supportive culture where everyone's contribution is valued and where professional development is actively encouraged.

For vets looking to pursue additional qualifications or develop particular clinical interests, certificate funding and career development support are available.

Established Practice, Modern Facilities

Acorn Vets has proudly served the pets, livestock, and farming communities of North Cork for many years. We have built a strong reputation based on high clinical standards, excellent client relationships, and genuine community involvement.

This role is based mainly within our Mallow practice, where you'll have access to modern facilities and equipment while enjoying the benefits of a close-knit practice environment. As part of the IVC Evidensia network, you'll also benefit from access to a wider clinical community, professional support, and long-term career opportunities.

Why Mallow?

Mallow offers the perfect blend of career opportunity and lifestyle.

Located in the heart of North Cork, the town provides excellent access to Cork City while offering a more relaxed pace of life, affordable living, and beautiful countryside on your doorstep. Whether you're already based in Cork or considering a move to the region, Mallow offers an excellent quality of life alongside a fulfilling veterinary career.

About You

We are looking for a veterinary surgeon who is passionate about companion animal practice and committed to delivering excellent patient care.

Applicants must be registered, or eligible to register, with the Veterinary Council of Ireland (VCI).

You should be confident managing routine consultations, medical cases, and surgery within a first-opinion setting. Strong communication skills, a proactive approach, and a desire to work as part of a collaborative team are essential.

We are open to applications from vets with varying levels of experience and are particularly keen to hear from candidates seeking a flexible part-time opportunity within an established and supportive practice.

About You

We are keen to hear from veterinary surgeons who enjoy the variety and challenges of mixed practice and who value working as part of a supportive team.
