About the role
Veterinary Surgeon - Small Animal
Portchester Vets - Fareham, Hampshire
Salary up to £65,000 FTE DOE
At inspiring vet care, our people are at the heart of everything we do. As the UK’s number one vet care provider, we're trusted with the care of over 2 million animals, delivering our purpose of healthier animals and happier owners.
Portchester Vets, part of inspiring vet care, has been caring for the local community for more than a decade, building a fantastic reputation for exceptional patient care, trusted client relationships and a genuinely welcoming atmosphere.
We’re now looking for a confident and personable Vet to join our team and play an important part in the continued growth and success of the practice. With a small team, you’ll have the opportunity to build strong relationships, really get to know your clients and make your mark on a well-established practice.
Build Your Own Client Relationships
Our caseload is predominantly cats and dogs, with the occasional rabbit, giving you a lovely mix of consultations, medical work-ups and surgery. While there’s plenty of routine first-opinion work, we’ll give you the time and freedom to investigate cases properly and follow them through.
Continuity of care is something we really value, meaning you can build genuine relationships with your clients and see your patients from their first presentation through to resolution wherever possible. There are also some sole-charge work, giving you plenty of clinical autonomy while knowing support is available when you need it.
Great Facilities, Right at Your Fingertips
You’ll have access to digital and dental radiography, ultrasound, endoscopy, K-Laser therapy and a full in-house IDEXX laboratory. When additional expertise is needed, we have established referral pathways and access to visiting specialists.
A Team Where You’ll Be Known
You’ll join a friendly team of two Veterinary Surgeons, five RVNs, one Student Veterinary Nurses and a dedicated Client Care Team. It’s a genuinely collaborative environment where everyone knows each other, supports one another and has a real opportunity to contribute to the practice.
A Lifestyle-Friendly Working Pattern
This is a part time role working 25 hours a week, ideally Monday and Wednesday, with 1:3 Saturday mornings from 9am–12pm. There are no out-of-hours or on-call requirements, and we’re happy to consider part-time applicants.
Life in Fareham
Thinking about relocating? Fareham offers a fantastic balance of coastal living, countryside and easy connections. Sitting between Portsmouth and Southampton, you’ll have beautiful beaches and the stunning Hampshire coastline close by, while the South Downs are within easy reach for walking, cycling and exploring. With a good selection of shops, cafés, restaurants and local amenities, Fareham offers a relaxed quality of life without feeling too far from the action
