About the role

The Theatre Support Officer plays a vital role in supporting the safe and efficient operation of the Operating Theatre environment at The Prince Charles Hospital. Working as part of the Patient Support Services team, the role provides essential operational support to clinical staff through patient transportation, patient handling and positioning, theatre preparation and cleaning activities that contribute to the delivery of high-quality patient care.

In this role, you will assist with setting up operating theatres, maintain clinical areas to infection control standards, transport patients and clinical items, and support theatre teams during routine and emergency situations. You will also contribute to maintaining a safe, clean and efficient environment while working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to ensure patients receive safe, respectful and compassionate care.

About you

Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:

  • Assist healthcare professionals with patient transportation, manual handling and positioning of patients within the operating theatre environment while maintaining patient dignity and safety.
  • Prepare operating theatres for a range of procedures, including setting up theatre tables and equipment and ensuring readiness for clinical activities.
  • Perform routine and periodic cleaning of operating theatres and associated areas in accordance with infection control standards and established procedures.
  • Collect and deliver blood products, pathology specimens and other clinical items, and provide support to theatre staff during emergency situations when required.
  • Maintain equipment, manage waste and linen disposal processes, and contribute to staff training, service improvement initiatives and efficient day-to-day theatre operations.

Benefits when working for us

  • Rewarding career and development opportunities across a wide range of clinical and non-clinical areas
  • Value driven organisation which provides a work environment that is safe, satisfying, flexible, and promotes a healthy work-life balance
  • Flexible working arrangements and competitive salary rates with annual incremental increases
  • Benefit from a higher than standard employer contribution to Superannuation of up to 12.75% and access to salary packaging
