The Opportunity

Are you a passionate Social Work leader committed to improving the lives of children and young people? We are looking for an experienced Team Manager to join our client's leading fostering service in Manchester.

In this pivotal role, you will lead a dedicated team of social workers, ensuring that high‑quality care and safeguarding remain at the centre of everything our client does. You will be joining a supportive environment that values professional development and is deeply committed to achieving positive, lasting outcomes for children in care.

What will your responsibilities be?

  • Safeguarding: Maintain a clear and consistent focus on the safety and well-being of children and young people.
  • Supervision: Provide robust supervision and support to Supervising Social Workers, trainees, and support staff.
  • Growth & Recruitment: Participate in the advertisement, recruitment, and selection of new social work talent.
  • Flexibility: Manage a schedule that includes some evening and weekend work to meet the needs of our foster families.

Benefits

  • Real Impact: The chance to truly transform the lives of vulnerable children.
  • Supportive Culture: Work within a collaborative team that prioritizes peer support.
  • Career Growth: Access a tailored training program designed to help you progress based on your performance.
  • Work-Life Balance: Competitive annual leave and a commitment to staff well-being.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you must possess:

  • Social Work England Registration (Active).
  • Degree level qualification or equivalent in Social Work.
  • 5+ Years Post-Qualifying Experience in statutory childcare work, including child protection.
  • Leadership Experience: At least 2 years of experience in a supervisory or management capacity.

Reasonable Adjustments

If you consider yourself to have a disability or require any reasonable adjustment during the recruitment process or within the workplace, please highlight this at the earliest opportunity by contacting our team. With this information, we will provide appropriate support to you throughout the process and into your work placement.

We are unable to support or accept applications from candidates who are residents within the Red or Amber list of the Code of practice for the international recruitment of health and social care personnel in England, based on the World Health Organisation (WHO) Workforce Support and Safeguard List.
