About the role

About TAFE Queensland

TAFE Queensland is proud to be the largest and most experienced Vocational Education and Training (VET) provider in the State. For more than 140 years, TAFE Queensland has delivered practical and industry-relevant training to provide students with the skills and experience they need to build lifelong careers. Our award-winning training is delivered on campus, online, and in the workplace to give people the skills they need to enrich their communities, support their industries, and strengthen their local economies.

By working at TAFE Queensland, you can be part of a highly experienced workforce that is closely connected with their industries and dedicated to delivering best practices and innovative training.

Your Opportunity

TAFE Queensland North (TQN) is seeking to establish a pre-qualified Educator Talent Pool to support Vocational competencies at least to the level being delivered and assessed:

  • Registered Nurse or Enrolled Nurse with current AHPRA registration; and
  • Currently working as a registered or enrolled nurse with 3 years post graduate nursing experience.

in the Cairns, Townsville, Bowen and Thursday Island region.

  • We are inviting applications from experienced Registered and Enrolled Nurses.
  • If you do not currently hold the required Training and Assessment qualification, we will support you to obtain it.
  • An order of merit may be created for future opportunities.

This initiative will introduce a continuous recruitment or periodic Expression of Interest (EOI) process to identify and maintain a pool of skilled educators who are ready to step into training delivery as needs arise.

Candidates within the talent pool will be pre-assessed against the following requirements:

  • Demonstrated vocational competency in Nursing
  • Current training and assessment qualifications (e.g. TAE40122) or equivelant
  • Proven industry currency

Successful applicants will have the opportunity to contribute through:

  • Casual or temporary teaching engagements
  • Supporting backfill requirements
  • Assisting with surge delivery demands to meet fluctuating training needs

This approach supports TQN’s workforce planning priorities by proactively addressing regional skill shortages in the Cairns, Townsville, Bowen and Thursday Island areas. It aligns with broader workforce strategies focused on:

  • Addressing industry skill gaps
  • Strengthening regional workforce capability
  • Improving responsiveness to employer and industry needs

This is your opportunity to share your expertise and mentor Nursing professionals in a dynamic and enjoyable training environment.

As a key member of the teaching and delivery team, you will contribute to developing and delivering quality learning services to a wide range of clients through:

  • Outcome focused vocational education and training (VET) programs;
  • Linking with industry, schools, universities, other TAFE and VET providers;
  • Maintaining currency with industry practices, workplace delivery and contemporary teaching methodologies and philosophies;
  • Working in an environment of change and continuous improvement; and
  • Making Great Happen!
