About the role

The mission of our schools is to educate responsible citizen scholars for success in a college of their choice and a life of active citizenship. Core to achieving this mission are the people who work in our schools every day. Our Talent Acquisition serves as the gatekeepers to our organization by working with school leaders to manage the full-cycle hiring process from application to hire for all roles within their school.

Who You Are

  • An enthusiastic teammate with an unwavering commitment to the Democracy Prep mission of college success and authentic civic engagement for our scholars.
  • An organized, data-driven self-starter who can handle competing priorities.
  • A strong communicator who builds relationships quickly and adapts communication style according to audience.
  • An educator with prior urban teaching experience and a working knowledge of the high-performing charter school space.

What You’ll Do

  • Work in concert with school leaders to assess short and long-term talent needs and game plan on how to efficiently fill those needs.
  • With your manager, adapt and execute our application and selection process to meet the needs of each individual school, resulting in a thorough interview process that instills confidence in our hiring managers in their hiring decisions.
  • Use organization systems to track candidates and ensure timely follow-up in each step of the hiring process.
  • Utilize team tracking systems with fidelity.
  • Manage a high volume of resumes and phone screens to find mission fit and skilled applicants for our scholars with a specific focus on school-based operational screening and teacher screening for the middle and high school levels.
  • Enact a best in class candidate experience from time of first contact until they exit the talent acquisition and interview process, ensuring that all candidates feel supported and excited about Democracy Prep.
  • Leverage your organization skills to quickly coordinate candidate interviews for your portfolio of schools and for centralized hiring.
  • Develop and execute a cold outreach strategy for vacancies within portfolio of schools.
  • Collaborate with the full Talent Acquisition team to identify needs and develop creative solutions to fill all openings.
  • Support outreach initiatives as determined in partnership with the Director of Talent Acquisition and Managing Director of Talent Acquisition. This includes consulting on content for ads, newsletters, and recruiting posts.
  • Track hiring against school staffing budget and partner with school leaders to ensure they have the oversight and support they need to hire within their allocated budget.
  • Support people team and organization-wide strategic initiatives. This support includes but is not limited to the creation of communication templates that support overarching team priorities, the implementation of larger people team systems, and the participation in Central Office events and professional development.
