About the role

Team description

SumUp's Manufacturing & Supply Chain team keeps hardware production reliable and cost-effective, sourcing the components, commodities and raw materials that go into the card readers and payment devices used by millions of small businesses worldwide. As new hardware projects ramp up and global supply markets stay unpredictable, this newly created role gives strategic sourcing the dedicated focus it needs, building supplier strategies, qualifying new partners and negotiating the deals that keep production running. It's a chance to build a function from the ground up, working closely with Engineering, Quality, Finance and Operations to diversify SumUp's supplier base and strengthen supply resilience for years to come.

What you'll do

  • Define sourcing strategies for hardware commodities and raw materials, balancing cost, quality, supply continuity and scalability
  • Lead supplier identification, qualification and selection through RFIs, RFQs and RFPs, backed by competitive benchmarking
  • Negotiate pricing, lead times, capacity commitments and contract terms to secure reliable, competitive supply agreements
  • Build and maintain a diversified, resilient supplier base, tracking performance and addressing risks such as single sourcing or capacity constraints
  • Partner with Engineering, Quality and Operations teams on new product introductions, cost reduction projects and supplier audits
  • Own sourcing cost targets, track market trends and cost drivers, and report savings and performance to Finance

You'll be great for this role if...

  • Strong track record in strategic sourcing and supplier selection, ideally within hardware, electronics or manufacturing
  • Confident commercial negotiation skills, with experience securing pricing, capacity and contract terms that protect quality and supply continuity
  • Solid understanding of supplier contracts, commercial terms and cost structures, including should-cost and total-cost-of-ownership analysis
  • Experience managing supplier performance through scorecards, reviews and corrective action plans
  • Comfort working with cross-functional stakeholders across Engineering, Quality, Finance and Operations to turn sourcing plans into results
