At Databricks, we are passionate about enabling data teams to solve the world's toughest problems — from making the next mode of transportation a reality to accelerating the development of medical breakthroughs. We do this by building and running the world's best data and AI infrastructure platform so our customers can use deep data insights to improve their business. Founded by engineers — and customer obsessed — we leap at every opportunity to tackle technical challenges, from designing next-gen UI/UX for interfacing with data to scaling our services and infrastructure across millions of virtual machines. And we're only getting started.

The Impact You Will Have

  • Lead the design and implementation of complex, high-impact distributed systems that span multiple services or teams
  • Define technical strategy and architectural direction for your domain, working toward multi-year vision with incremental deliverables
  • Drive cross-team technical initiatives and influence engineering roadmaps across the organization
  • Own critical system reliability, performance, and security at scale, ensuring high availability and operational excellence
  • Mentor senior engineers and raise the technical bar through code reviews, design feedback, and engineering best practices

What We Look For

  • 8+ years of software engineering experience
  • Experience architecting, developing, deploying, and operating large-scale distributed systems in production environments
  • Strong programming skills in languages including Java, Scala, C++, or Go
  • Experience working on SaaS platforms or with service-oriented architectures
  • Experience with cloud technologies including AWS, Azure, GCP, Docker, or Kubernetes
  • Experience with software security and systems that handle sensitive data
  • Ability to influence technical direction through strong technical judgment and clear communication with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
