About the role

About Redwood Materials

Redwood Materials was founded in 2017 by JB Straubel, co-founder and former CTO of Tesla, on a simple but radical idea: the critical minerals powering the energy transition already exist. They just need to come back. Today Redwood is the largest lithium-ion battery recycler in North America — recovering, refining, and redeploying critical minerals from end-of-life batteries back into the supply chain. On the energy side, Redwood has deployed the largest second-life battery project in the world, delivering power to AI data centers in months rather than years using proprietary energy architecture engineered entirely in-house. The company is profitable, the market it operates in is projected to grow 20 to 50 times over the next decade, and Redwood is the only company with the supply chain, the technology, and the operational scale to lead it.

Staff Global Supply Chain Manager, Construction

Redwood Materials is looking for a Staff Global Supply Chain Manager, Construction to lead construction procurement for energy storage projects within our Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) team. In this role you will direct sourcing strategy and execution for all construction scopes, including civil, trenching, cable, and cable tray, from bid through contract award and change management. You will work closely with construction, engineering, and project controls teams, and you will set the procurement methods and standards used for construction buying across the function. Your decisions will directly affect project cost, schedule, and supplier risk. This is a hybrid role based in San Francisco, California.

Responsibilities will include

  • Direct sourcing strategy for all construction scopes on energy storage projects, including civil, trenching, cable, cable tray, and electrical balance of system
  • Develop and run request for quote and request for proposal (RFQ/RFP) events for construction subcontractors and materials, including bid leveling, scope alignment, and award recommendations
  • Negotiate construction contracts, master service agreements (MSAs), and change orders with subcontractors and suppliers
  • Develop should-cost models and cost benchmarks for construction scopes to support project budgets and pricing
  • Guide EPC construction, engineering, and project controls teams on procurement strategy, schedule risk, and supplier capacity
  • Build and maintain the construction supplier base, including qualification, performance tracking, and risk mitigation
  • Establish procurement processes and standards for construction buying across the EPC function

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • 8+ years of construction procurement or EPC supply chain experience
  • Working knowledge of construction contract types (lump sum, unit price, and time and materials), subcontractor scopes, and change order management
  • Working knowledge of civil and electrical construction scopes, including medium-voltage and low-voltage (MV/LV) cable, trenching, and cable tray
  • Ability to build cost models and level bids in Excel, with experience in ERP and procurement systems such as Workday
  • Ability to negotiate with subcontractors and suppliers and to influence senior internal stakeholders
  • A passion for sustainability and making the world a better place!

Working Conditions

  • Quarterly travel to Reno, Nevada, and to project sites as needed
