A Day in the Life
- Plan and direct day-to-day accounting activities while ensuring compliance with GAAP, Cost Accounting Standards (CAS), and Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR)
- Manage accounts payable and receivable, reconcile bank and credit card accounts, monitor daily cash balances, and support monthly close activities
- Assist with audits, government contract reporting, and budget preparation, while maintaining accurate records for employees, vendors, and fixed assets
- Support multiple entities across the organization, handling accounting activities tailored to each business unit
- Mentor accounting staff and support leadership with financial insights and projections
Must Haves
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, or Finance (or equivalent relevant experience)
- Minimum of 3 years of related professional accounting experience
- Strong working knowledge of GAAP
- Experience with payroll processing systems
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Experience performing full-charge bookkeeping, including: Accounts payable and receivable, bank and credit card reconciliations, journal entries and account reconciliations, and payroll processing and timecard review
- Ability to prepare and support audit schedules
- Experience maintaining accounting records, fixed assets, and depreciation schedules
Nice to Haves
- Experience with government contracting and familiarity with FAR and CAS
- Experience supporting DCAA reporting (Provisional/Final Billing Rates, Incurred Cost Submissions)
- Experience using Unanet
- Microsoft Office Specialist (Excel) certification
- Experience with 401(k) and profit-sharing contributions and 5500 audit support
- Prior experience training or supervising junior accounting staff
