About the role

About Dexterity

At Dexterity, we believe robots can positively transform the world. Our breakthrough technology frees people to do the creative, inspiring, problem-solving jobs that humans do best by enabling robots to handle repetitive and physically difficult work.

We're starting with warehouse automation, where the need for smarter, more resilient supply chains impacts millions of lives and businesses around the world. Dexterity's full-stack robotics systems pick, move, pack, and collaborate with human-like skill, awareness, and learning capabilities. Our systems are software-driven and hardware-agnostic and have already picked over 15 million goods in production. And did we mention we're customer-obsessed? Every decision, large and small, is driven by one question – how can we empower our customers with robots to do more than they thought was possible?

Dexterity is one of the fastest-growing companies in robotics, backed by world-class investors such as Kleiner Perkins, Lightspeed Venture Partners, and Obvious Ventures.

About the Role

Dexterity is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Operations Accountant to support our growing manufacturing operations. Reporting to the Controller, this role will own inventory and cost accounting, support financial close activities, and partner closely with Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Engineering to ensure accurate product costing and financial reporting.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on accounting professional with strong manufacturing experience who thrives in a fast-paced, technology-driven environment. This is an opportunity to help strengthen financial controls, improve processes, and provide meaningful financial insights as Dexterity continues to scale its robotics operations.

What You'll Do

  • Own inventory accounting for raw materials, work in process (WIP), and finished goods, including reconciliations, valuation, and excess and obsolete inventory reserves.
  • Maintain and validate product costs, including materials, labor, and manufacturing overhead, and review bills of materials (BOMs) and cost rollups.
  • Analyze manufacturing variances, including purchase price, material usage, labor, and overhead absorption, and partner with operational teams to identify underlying drivers.
  • Support month-end and year-end close activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and analysis of inventory, cost of goods sold (COGS), and manufacturing expenses.
  • Partner with Manufacturing and Supply Chain to coordinate physical inventory counts, cycle counts, and resolution of inventory discrepancies.
  • Review inventory transactions and production activity to ensure proper accounting treatment, classification, and cutoff.
  • Support new product introductions by evaluating cost assumptions and ensuring accurate setup of inventory items, BOMs, and related accounting data.
  • Maintain strong internal controls, accounting procedures, and documentation while supporting external audits.
  • Identify opportunities to improve ERP workflows, reporting accuracy, and accounting processes as manufacturing operations scale.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including substantial hands-on experience in manufacturing cost and inventory accounting.
  • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, particularly inventory valuation, manufacturing costs, and COGS.
  • Experience with standard costing, manufacturing variance analysis, and month-end close.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems, including manufacturing and inventory modules.
  • Advanced Excel skills and the ability to analyze complex financial and operational data.
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills, with experience working across Finance, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Engineering.
  • Ability to work independently, take ownership of deliverables, and improve existing processes.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in robotics, automation, electronics, or complex hardware manufacturing.
  • Experience supporting new product introductions, contract manufacturing, or scaling production operations.
  • Experience improving accounting processes, implementing ERP capabilities, or automating financial reporting.
  • CPA or equivalent professional accounting certification.

Compensation

The anticipated base salary range for this position is $120,000–$150,000 annually. Actual compensation will depend on the candidate's qualifications, experience, skills, and other job-related factors.

Dexterity offers a competitive compensation and benefits package.
