Position Summary

As a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) Contract Evaluator at Blackbird Health, you will deliver evidence-based diagnostic assessments that build a clear, comprehensive picture of a child's developmental and communication needs. Operating in a hybrid model (2 days on-site per week for our Philadelphia Metro locations, with remote telehealth flexibility), you will collaborate with an interdisciplinary team of specialty providers to shape individualized care plans for the children and families we serve.

Please note: This is a diagnostic evaluation-only role and does not involve providing ongoing therapy or treatment sessions.

What makes you, you

  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a collaborative, interdisciplinary environment.
  • Proficient in navigating electronic medical record (EMR) systems and related technology.
  • Commitment to evidence-based practice and continued professional development.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality according to HIPAA regulations.
  • Flexibility and initiative to adapt in a dynamic, innovative startup work environment.
  • Receptive to clinical feedback and committed to professional growth.

How you’ll make an impact

  • Complete a minimum of 6 comprehensive speech and language evaluations per week (90-minute direct clinical service sessions).
  • Complete all necessary clinical documentation (30 minute documentation time per evaluation), evaluation reports, and care recommendations accurately and in a timely manner. All documentation time is considered clinical time and is fully compensated at the standard hourly rate.
  • Focus exclusively on high-quality diagnostic testing; make appropriate recommendations and referrals for therapy goals and services based on evaluation results (no ongoing treatment/tx caseload management required).
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of behavioral health clinicians and Certified Registered Nurse Practitioners (CRNPs) to provide comprehensive, whole-child care.
  • Participate in weekly team meetings (approximately 60 minutes per week) to provide input on clinical and administrative insights.
  • Maintain a clinical schedule focused on weekday evaluations after 3:00 PM EST and/or weekend evaluations.

The basics you’ll need

  • Education: Master’s degree (or higher) in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited university.
  • Licensure: Valid state license in Pennsylvania in Speech-Language Pathology.
  • Certification: Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).
  • Experience: At least two (2) years of experience providing speech and language services in a pediatric or multidisciplinary setting; experience with telehealth/virtual evaluations is preferred.

Salary Range

$55—$55 USD
