About the role

About Redwood Materials

Redwood Materials was founded in 2017 by JB Straubel, co-founder and former CTO of Tesla, on a simple but radical idea: the critical minerals powering the energy transition already exist. They just need to come back. Today Redwood is the largest lithium-ion battery recycler in North America — recovering, refining, and redeploying critical minerals from end-of-life batteries back into the supply chain. On the energy side, Redwood has deployed the largest second-life battery project in the world, delivering power to AI data centers in months rather than years using proprietary energy architecture engineered entirely in-house. The company is profitable, the market it operates in is projected to grow 20 to 50 times over the next decade, and Redwood is the only company with the supply chain, the technology, and the operational scale to lead it.

Position Summary The Spares Specialist supports the maintenance team by managing spare parts inventory, executing purchasing transactions, and coordinating rental equipment at the Ridgeville, South Carolina location at the Battery Materials Campus (BMC). This is a fully on-site role. The position performs receiving, stocking, and disbursement activities, processes purchase orders in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, and maintains accurate inventory records in Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) software following established procedures. The role coordinates with technicians, engineers, and external vendors to ensure timely parts availability and complete shift-end handoffs. Success depends on attention to detail, consistent adherence to purchasing and inventory procedures, and reliable follow-through on daily tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Perform receiving, stocking, and disbursement of maintenance spare parts and materials; create work orders in Limble Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) for technicians to perform receiving tasks when practical
  • Process purchase orders in Oracle Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) for maintenance parts and consumables; track order status and coordinate with vendors on delivery and invoicing
  • Identify suppliers for parts when standard vendors are unavailable; present options to the Production Engineering Manager for approval
  • Perform inventory counts in coordination with the Maintenance Supervisor and supporting technicians; maintain accurate on-hand records in Limble CMMS
  • Coordinate rental equipment scheduling, pickup and return, periodic inspections (e.g., scaffolding), and repair arrangements
  • Report vendor performance concerns to the Global Supply Management (GSM) team and flag budget variances to the Production Engineering Manager; keep technicians and leaders informed of relevant updates
  • Document outstanding receiving at shift end and create Limble CMMS work orders for the oncoming shift before departing

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in supply chain, procurement, materials management, or a maintenance trade preferred
  • 1–2 years of experience in parts management, purchasing, stores, or a related function; equivalent time as a maintenance technician will be considered
  • Working knowledge of electrical, mechanical, or welding systems as applied in an industrial maintenance environment
  • Experience with an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) purchasing system; Oracle experience strongly preferred
  • Experience with a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) for work order and inventory management; Limble experience preferred
  • Ability to follow established purchasing and inventory procedures accurately and consistently
  • Effective communication skills to coordinate with technicians, engineers, supervisors, and external vendors
  • Ability to complete shift-end documentation and handoff tasks to support continuity of operations

The position is full-time. Compensation will be commensurate with experience.
