About the role

At Compass, we’re on a mission to transform the school day for everyone. From staff and students to families and administrators, we build smart, seamless technology that empowers people to focus on what really matters: learning, growing, and thriving.

That mission has fuelled our growth into a global scale-up, now supporting over 5,000 schools across 3 countries. Backed by a team of 270+ passionate professionals, our all-in-one school management platform is redefining how education communities connect, communicate, and operate.

We’re now looking for a Software Test Engineer to join our team!

About the Role

As a Software Test Engineer at Compass, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring our products meet the highest standards of quality, performance, and reliability before they reach our users.

This role suits someone who loves finding patterns, breaking down complex challenges, and turning observations into actionable insights. You’ll collaborate across teams, continuously improve our testing frameworks, and help shape how Compass delivers quality software at scale.

At Compass, you will

  • Design and maintain test cases, environments, and scripts for new and existing features.
  • Execute manual and automated testing across web, iOS, and Android applications.
  • Perform system, regression, and end-to-end testing using tools like Applitools Preflight and BrowserStack.
  • Conduct API testing (Postman, GraphQL) and performance testing to ensure scalability and reliability.
  • Identify, document, and track defects, collaborating with developers to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
  • Contribute to automation frameworks and promote best practices in test strategy and coverage.
  • Work with product and engineering teams to define quality metrics and improve release confidence.

Requirements

What you'll need to succeed

At Compass, we’re looking for people who bring energy, curiosity, and a genuine drive to make things better. If you’re passionate about delivering high-quality software, enjoy solving complex problems, and take pride in finding what others might miss, we’d love to hear from you.

You will also have:

  • At least 1 year of hands-on automation testing experience, with programming knowledge in C#, React, or JavaScript.
  • Proven experience using automation tools such as Selenium, Playwright, or Cypress.
  • Familiarity with test management platforms and agile workflows.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to spot risks early.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a detail-oriented mindset.
  • Strong organisation skills, the ability to be resilient under pressure, and a proactive nature, taking pride in delivering high-quality outcomes.

  • We come together with our unique strengths to work towards a common purpose - shaping the future of education. When you join our team, you will collaborate with individuals who are passionate, driven, and open to embracing change in a fast-paced environment.
