About the role and about You

Zwift is looking for a Software Engineer to join our team to help rebuild Zwift.com into a modern, reliable, and reusable growth platform. You will contribute to an incremental migration of the site onto a supported architecture, beginning with core customer acquisition and authentication journeys. In this role, you will work in a full-stack team to deliver features that improve our subscription management, prospecting customer experience, zwift.com platform, and e-commerce stores. Working within a cross-functional team, you will help improve rendering and caching, content delivery, performance, observability, CI/CD, analytics, SEO, accessibility, and integrations with Zwift’s identity and commerce systems. You will also help create the technical foundations and work with designers, producers, engineers, artists, QA, and product managers to build exciting new features and help grow our Zwifting community.

What you’ll do

  • Work on a cross-functional team to deliver exciting features that span our microservice backend, zwift.com client, e-commerce platform, subscription management platform, and admin tooling.
  • Design, build, and maintain high-performance, reusable, and reliable code in multiple programming languages and platforms.
  • Help establish a supported web-platform foundation, including rendering and caching strategies, CDN behavior, API access patterns, CI/CD, observability, automated testing, and decommissioning of legacy functionality.
  • Build reusable page templates, structured content models, and CMS integrations that enable governed self-service publishing for Marketing and content teams.
  • Collaborate with other engineers through code reviews, technical discussions, and pair programming.
  • Participate in on-call support, monitoring, and troubleshooting of all services owned by the team.
  • Identify technical risks and help build mitigation plans.
  • Use AI-assisted development thoughtfully to accelerate activities such as codebase analysis, migration planning, test generation, documentation, and component consolidation while maintaining appropriate engineering review and quality standards.
  • Work with engineers and product managers to scope and plan projects.
  • Participate in the interview process.

What we’re looking for

  • BS/MS in Computer Science and/or relevant technical area.
  • 2-5 years of software development experience.
  • Strong proficiency with modern JavaScript or TypeScript and a component-based frontend framework such as React.
  • Proficient in one or more development technologies: we mostly use React, Java and Kotlin, but there is no specific language requirement.
  • Experience with: web development and frontend architecture, cloud-based microservices, and/or event sourcing.
  • Experience with server-rendered or hybrid web frameworks; Next.js experience is strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with web performance, accessibility, analytics instrumentation, and SEO fundamentals.
  • Experience with software engineering best practices such as automated testing, monitoring/alerting, continuous integration, code reviews, etc.
  • Experience with production troubleshooting and on-call.
  • Tenacity to get things done and enthusiasm for learning in an evolving problem space.

Bonus points

  • Experience working with Kubernetes and containerization.
  • Experience shipping cross-platform apps, especially: iOS, tvOS, Android, Mac, and PC.
  • Interest in creating fun experiences around cycling, running, and overall fitness.
