At Optiver, we’re looking for a Software Engineer to join our Global Talent Assessment Tooling Team (GTAT), the cornerstone of our global recruitment, engaging 100,000+ users annually. You'll be instrumental in ensuring scalability and reliability of our in house built platforms. With expertise in server-side platforms and a genuine interest in UI/UX, you'll contribute to the full software development lifecycle of our global platforms, serving as the central hub for all talent assessments, training and education activities, and test authorization. Join us in shaping the future of global talent acquisition at Optiver.

Who we are

Optiver’s story began over 30 years ago, when we started business as a single trader on the floor of Amsterdam’s options exchange. Today, we are at the forefront of trading and technology as a leading global electronic market maker, focused on pricing, execution and risk management.

What you’ll do

As a Software Engineer, you’ll be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining our talent assessment tooling platform and our assessments. This critical infrastructure is key to our ability to hire at scale and speed, representing one of the first interactions individuals have with Optiver during their recruitment journey. You’ll work within a dynamic team to ensure the platform's scalability and reliability, contributing to the success of our global talent assessment initiatives. You’ll work closely with our recruitment teams globally on a day to day basis to ensure that the platform is scalable, reliable, and user-friendly.

Some of what you’ll do day to day:

  • Design, develop and maintain our assessment tooling platform and features supporting recruitment
  • Collaborate with recruitment teams on a global scale to ensure that the platform is scalable, reliable, and user-friendly
  • Write clean, maintainable code that is easy to understand and modify and participate in code reviews to ensure that code meets quality standards
  • Utilize frontend technologies (React/Angular) to enhance user interfaces and experiences.

Who You Are

  • Strong technical background consisting of 3+ years of experience in full stack development
  • Proficiency in server-side development utilizing C# .NET or Python
  • Experience with relational databases (e.g. PostgreSQL or SQL Server)
  • Experience with frontend technologies including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and modern frontend frameworks
  • A proactive approach to problem solving and an entrepreneurial attitude
  • Ability to clearly explain your thoughts through written and verbal communication, ask the right questions, and work collaboratively with a range of technical and non technical stakeholders

Nice to Haves

  • Experience in UI/UX design
  • Experience with server hosting on cloud providers (e.g. AWS)

What you'll get

You’ll join a culture of collaboration and excellence, where you’ll be surrounded by curious thinkers and creative problem solvers. Motivated by a passion for continuous improvement, you’ll thrive in a supportive, high-performing environment alongside talented colleagues, working collectively to tackle the toughest problems in the financial markets.

In addition, you’ll receive:

  • A performance-based bonus structure unmatched anywhere in the industry. We combine our profits across desks, teams and offices into a global profit pool.
  • The opportunity to work alongside best-in-class professionals from over 50 different countries.
  • 25 paid vacation days in your first year, increasing to 30 from your second year onwards.
  • Training opportunities, discounts on health insurance, and fully paid first-class commuting expenses.
  • Extensive office perks, including breakfast, lunch and dinner, world-class barista coffee, in-house physio and chair massages, organised sports and leisure activities, and Friday afternoon drinks.
  • Training and continuous learning opportunities, including access to conferences and tech events.
  • Competitive relocation packages and visa sponsorship where necessary for expats.
