Software Engineer, Financial Systems (IC3)

Madhive is hiring a Software Engineer to join our Financial Systems Engineering team. We’re building TallyIQ, Madhive’s internal finance application, giving Finance, Accounting, and Revenue Operations one place to manage invoicing, adjustments, approvals, reconciliation, and financial reporting. The application also includes financial analytics and decision-support tools, with opportunities to develop AI-powered predictive and prescriptive analytics.

The work spans user interfaces, APIs, backend services, and financial business logic, supported by integrations with our proprietary advertising platform, NetSuite, Salesforce, and BigQuery.

You’ll report to the Senior Software Engineering Manager for Financial Systems Engineering and work closely with Finance, Revenue Operations, and Product.

You’ll help determine what we build next. Working alongside your manager and Product, you’ll meet with Finance and Accounting stakeholders, including the CFO, to understand their challenges, identify opportunities, and turn those needs into application features. The roadmap will continue to evolve as we learn where better software can make the biggest difference.

This is a hands-on engineering role with room to grow. You’ll ship features and take increasing ownership with support from your team. Accounting or finance knowledge is strongly preferred, along with curiosity, sound engineering judgment, and an interest in understanding the business behind the software.

This role is based out of our New York City headquarters at 225 Broadway. We operate on a hybrid model, and the ideal candidate will work from the NYC office 3 days per week as needed for team collaboration, close cycles, and planning sessions.

What You'll Do

  • Build application features for invoice generation and previews, credits and approvals, configurable templates, reconciliation, and financial analysis
  • Develop APIs and backend services in Go and Python on Google Cloud, with opportunities to contribute to the React and TypeScript frontend
  • Work directly with Finance and Accounting stakeholders, including finance leadership, to understand their processes, uncover unmet needs, and evaluate potential solutions
  • Help shape and prioritize the application roadmap with your manager and Product, then carry defined features from discovery through implementation, release, and ongoing improvement
  • Contribute to financial analytics and decision-support capabilities, including exploring AI-powered predictive and prescriptive analytics and finance workflow automation
  • Build and maintain integrations with our proprietary platform, NetSuite, Salesforce, and BigQuery
  • Build permissions, validation, tests, error handling, and audit trails that keep financial data accurate and support appropriate human oversight
  • Use feedback from the people working in the application to improve its usability, reliability, and business value

Who You Are

  • An early-career software engineer with 0–4 years of professional experience; recent graduates with substantial project, internship, or other hands-on building experience are welcome
  • Comfortable programming in Go, Python, or a similar backend language, and working with SQL
  • Able to demonstrate your engineering skills through professional work, internships, open-source contributions, or substantial projects
  • Accounting or finance knowledge is strongly preferred, whether gained through coursework, a prior role, or practical experience with financial processes and analysis
  • Interested in understanding how people work, asking thoughtful questions, and connecting engineering decisions to business needs
  • Careful about correctness: you validate assumptions, test edge cases, and investigate unexpected results
  • Proactive, collaborative, and comfortable working through ambiguity with support from teammates
  • Ready to take ownership of well-defined work and grow toward broader responsibility
  • Hold a degree in Computer Science or a related field, or have equivalent hands-on engineering experience
  • NYC-based or willing to relocate

Nice to Have

  • Experience building web applications with React and TypeScript
  • Experience with financial analytics, data modeling, or data pipelines
  • Familiarity with NetSuite, Salesforce, or ERP integrations
  • Experience with Google Cloud, including Cloud Run, Cloud SQL, or BigQuery
  • Experience building with LLMs, tool calling, predictive modeling, or AI-assisted workflows

Success in This Role

Within your first year, you will:

  • Ship production features that improve how Finance, Accounting, and Revenue Operations do their work
  • Help identify and deliver new capabilities based on direct conversations with business stakeholders
  • Take increasing ownership of a defined application feature or financial workflow, from understanding the problem through release and support
  • Contribute to the application’s financial analytics and AI-assisted capabilities
  • Build trust with business partners by understanding their needs, investigating discrepancies, and following through on issues

The approximate compensation range for this position is $120,000-130,000. The actual offer, reflecting the total compensation package and benefits, will be determined by a number of factors, including the applicant's experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity among our team.
