About the role
At Mentee Robotics, we are redefining humanoid automation with an AI-first approach - combining perception, reasoning, and dexterous manipulation into fully autonomous systems that continuously learn and improve. We offer an exceptional opportunity to participate in building next-generation commercial humanoid robots from 0 to 1, alongside competitive compensation and an international engineering environment. We are expanding with a new robotics Engineering Center in China, working hand-in-hand with our engineering teams in headquarters. Its mission: to rapidly develop our next-generation full-size humanoid platform and bring it to production.
We are looking for a Software Development Engineer to lead the software development of a bipedal humanoid robot, owning the application layer, the middleware layer, and the low-level software, and able to bring the cameras, algorithms, communications, and other hardware together into a working system. You will also maintain the software, troubleshoot software issues, and work with colleagues in other disciplines to complete bench debugging and full-system commissioning. The end goal is to own the software of the mass-production robot and carry it through development and maintenance across the entire product lifecycle.
Who you are
- You have a deep understanding of software development and strong hands-on experience, along with a genuine passion for humanoid robots.
- You have a clear grasp of how the major software modules work, and a solid understanding of the system as a whole.
- You have solid experience with mass production and fault handling, and you can diagnose problems hands-on and fix and optimize software issues.
What will your job look like
- Participate in the design, development, integration, and maintenance of the robot software architecture.
- Develop middleware and system-layer software, including but not limited to the handheld controller client, process management, data logging, log management, health management, resource management, behavior scheduling, and HDS diagnostics.
- Develop additional robot software requirements in later phases.
- Integrate the HAL, middleware, application layer, communications, camera data, and navigation.
- Participate in SDK development, documentation, version control, debugging, deployment, and development of tools such as automated testing.
- Participate in robot deployment and delivery.
All you need is
- Full-time bachelor’s degree or above in computer science, electrical engineering, automation, software engineering, or a related field.
- Solid foundation and development experience in C++, Python, Shell, Linux, and network communication.
- Good coding style and engineering ability.
- Familiar with ROS 2, MQTT, gRPC, HTTP, RPC, and JSON.
- Familiar with CUDA and Docker development.
Nice to have
- Robot development experience.
- Familiarity with algorithms, embedded software, or hardware.
- Experience introducing products into mass production and optimizing mass-production issues.
