About the role

Our client based in Walsall is seeking an experienced Social Worker to join their Learning Disabilities Team. This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated practitioner to support adults with learning disabilities and their carers through strengths-based, person-centred social work interventions that promote independence, wellbeing, choice, and inclusion within the community.

Working within Adult Social Care, you will undertake Care Act assessments, care and support planning, reviews, safeguarding enquiries, and Mental Capacity Assessments. The successful candidate will work closely with individuals, families, carers, health professionals, and partner agencies to develop effective support arrangements and achieve positive outcomes for adults with learning disabilities. The role requires a practitioner who can manage a varied caseload, work autonomously, and apply professional judgement within a legislative framework.

What will your responsibilities be?

In this role, you will,

  • Undertaking strengths-based Care Act 2014 assessments for adults with learning disabilities and complex care and support needs.
  • Developing, co-producing, and reviewing person-centred Care and Support Plans that promote independence, self-determination, and community inclusion.
  • Managing a varied caseload of adults with learning disabilities, ensuring assessments, interventions, and reviews are completed within agreed timescales.
  • Undertaking Mental Capacity Assessments and contributing to Best Interest decision-making processes where required.
  • Leading and contributing to safeguarding enquiries, ensuring adults are protected from abuse, neglect, and exploitation.
  • Identifying, assessing, and managing risk whilst promoting positive risk-taking and individual choice.
  • Working collaboratively with families, carers, advocacy services, health professionals, housing providers, and other partner agencies.
  • Supporting adults to access community resources, services, and opportunities that enhance wellbeing and independence.
  • Advocating for adults with care and support needs, ensuring their voices are heard and their wishes and outcomes remain central to decision-making.
  • Maintaining accurate and timely case records, assessments, reports, and support plans in accordance with statutory and organisational requirements.
  • Supporting newly qualified social workers, students, and colleagues through shared learning and professional practice development.

Qualifications & Experience

To be successful in this role you must have:

  • Professional Qualification: MA, BA, BSc in Social Work, Diploma in Social Work, CQSW, or equivalent recognised Social Work qualification.
