About the role

As a Senior UX researcher, you’ll be the voice of our users. You’ll play a critical role in shaping our product strategy by uncovering deep insights into the needs, behaviours, and aspirations of our users—especially within Nigeria.

We’re on a mission to create financial happiness for every African, and your research will directly influence how we design products that are accessible, intuitive, and impactful. You’ll collaborate closely with our creators to ensure our solutions are grounded in real-world market realities.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead and execute end-to-end qualitative and quantitative research across the product lifecycle—from discovery to delivery.
  • Use a range of methods including in-depth interviews, ethnographic studies, usability testing, surveys, and diary studies, with a focus on the Nigerian context.
  • Synthesise complex data into actionable insights and frameworks (personas, journey maps, mental models) that drive empathy across the team.
  • Stay ahead of fintech and consumer trends in Nigeria and comparable markets through continuous landscape analysis.
  • Partner with product managers, designers, and engineers to translate business challenges into research questions.
  • Act as the subject matter expert on Nigerian user needs, guiding our local expansion and regional growth across Africa.
  • Structure and scale our research operations, including participant management and maintaining organised research repositories.
  • Present findings clearly to stakeholders at all levels to drive action and product improvements.

Qualifications

  • 6+ years of experience in UX research or product research, ideally with digital B2C products.
  • Deep experience researchng African markets, specifically Nigeria.
  • Advanced expertise in qualitative and quantitative methodologies (co-creation, usability testing, literature reviews, etc.).
  • Hands-on experience with tools like UserTesting, Maze, Typeform, or similar platforms.
  • Proven track record of translating insights into tangible frameworks that guide business decisions.

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience building or engaging with active user communities in Nigeria.
  • Background in fintech or banking environments.
  • Experience scaling research practices in a fast-growth startup or scale-up.

About you

  • You're driven by mastery and want to make the world a better place through your work.
  • You love finding innovative ways to solve user problems.
  • You speak the language of our users. You don't try to sound impressive with technical jargon; you stay relatable and friendly.
  • You don't guess—you use data. You prefer not to speak if you're unsure of the facts.
  • You believe in Moniepoint’s mission and want to bring our audience along on the journey to financial happiness.

What success looks like

  • Product teams report a clearer understanding of user pain points, measured by feature adoption and user satisfaction.
  • Research insights are consistently used to inform the product roadmap and business strategy.
  • We establish a thriving research repository that is easily accessible to all product stakeholders.
  • User recruitment becomes a seamless, automated process that allows for faster research cycles.
  • You become the "go-to" person for understanding the Nigerian consumer’s financial journey.

Please submit a resume highlighting your research experience and outlining research methodologies, processes, and the impact of your work on user experience and business outcomes. Optionally, you may also include a PDF portfolio with case studies that further illustrate your research approach and results. While a portfolio is not required, it can provide additional insight into your end-to-end research thinking and influence on product direction.

Our hiring process

  • Resume review: We look for strong experience that showcases your research process, methodologies, and impact.
  • Technical interview with a senior researcher: Deep dive into your experience, approach, and alignment with our mission.
  • Case study presentation: Present a research project to a panel, demonstrating your problem-solving, research craft, and strategic thinking.
  • Executive interview: Discussion with senior leadership about your growth potential, influence, and ability to drive user and business success.
