About the Role

We’re looking for a Senior Tax Accountant to join our team during an exciting phase of growth. In this role, you’ll serve as a key individual contributor within the Tax Department and will have significant ownership over state and local tax compliance, tax registrations, new-state and new-site onboarding, sales and use tax, property tax, exemptions, business licenses, tax notices and tax operations.

The successful candidate will be expected to operate with a high degree of independence while partnering closely with the Tax Director and cross-functional teams.

  • Review taxable and exempt transactions and maintain appropriate exemption documentation.
  • Manage exemption certificates and related documentation.
  • Monitor changes in sales and use tax requirements.
  • Identify potential sales and use tax exposures and escalate significant issues.

State & Local Tax / New Site Expansion

  • Identify and evaluate state and local tax registration requirements associated with new entities, states and data center locations.
  • Coordinate state and local registrations, sales and use tax licenses, business licenses and other tax accounts.
  • Assist with nexus analysis and monitoring as the Company expands.
  • Identify new filing and compliance requirements associated with changes in business activities or locations.
  • Support tax onboarding for new data center locations, including sales/use tax, exemptions, property tax and local filing requirements.
  • Monitor and track state tax abatements and compliance requirements.

Property Tax

  • Support property tax compliance and reporting.
  • Track property and fixed assets by jurisdiction.
  • Coordinate property tax filings, assessments and related documentation.
  • Assist in identifying property tax opportunities, exemptions and abatements.

Tax Operations

  • Maintain the Company's tax registration and license database.
  • Track renewals and jurisdictional good standing.
  • Maintain a comprehensive tax compliance calendar.
  • Track tax notices and correspondence through resolution.
  • Maintain organized supporting documentation for tax filings and positions.
  • Develop and improve recurring tax reports and processes.

Research & Planning

  • Research state and local tax questions and document conclusions.
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory developments affecting data centers and digital transactions.
  • Identify potential tax incentives, exemptions and planning opportunities.
  • Assist with tax planning projects and modeling.

Cross-Functional Partnership

  • Partner with Accounting, Finance, Legal, HR, Real Estate and Operations to identify tax implications of business activities.
  • Provide timely tax information to internal stakeholders.
  • Support tax analysis of significant transactions and business changes.
  • Coordinate with external tax advisors as appropriate.
  • Participate in special financial projects, support cross-functional accounting initiatives, and perform other tax-related duties as assigned by leadership to support the evolving needs of the company.
