About the role

Who We Are

Factorial Energy is a pioneering U.S.-based solid-state battery company driving the future of energy storage and electrification. Partnered with global leaders including Mercedes-Benz, Stellantis, Hyundai, and Kia, Factorial is at the forefront of developing next-generation e-mobility platforms for commercial, defense, and consumer applications—spanning electric vehicles (EVs), drones, eVTOL aircraft, power tools, marine systems, robotics, and more. The company has achieved multiple industry firsts, including being the first to power a demonstration vehicle with a global OEM (Mercedes- Benz) which achieved over 1,200 km (749 mi) of range, and the first to earn UN 38.3 certification for automotive-sized lithium-metal solid-state cells, the first to deliver B-samples of automotive-sized solid-state batteries to major OEMs.

The Opportunity

Factorial Energy is seeking a Senior / Staff MES System Engineer to join our Cheonan, South Korea site. This role takes charge of the full-lifecycle implementation, customization, validation, operation optimization, and mass production iteration of the Manufacturing Execution System (MES) for solid-state & silicon anode pouch cell production lines. The ideal candidate will lead MES requirement analysis, system deployment, equipment data interconnection, process digitization upgrade, and build standardized factory digital management systems to support new product ramp-up, yield improvement, and intelligent manufacturing construction.

In this role, you will

  • Lead MES system requirement analysis, functional design, secondary development, testing, and user training for cell manufacturing processes, covering cell finishing, assembly, testing, and warehouse logistics modules.
  • Realize data interconnection and seamless docking between MES and production equipment, PLC, vision system, testing instrument, ERP, and WMS, ensuring real-time, accurate, and traceable collection of production data, quality data, and equipment data.
  • Conduct MES system FAT/SAT acceptance and IQ/OQ/PQ validation, formulate system operation specifications, data management standards and audit standards to meet automotive battery industry quality compliance requirements.
  • Optimize MES production scheduling, process routing, quality inspection judgment, material scanning, and data reporting logic; solve system bugs and business bottlenecks; and improve production transparency and line operation efficiency.
  • Build standardized digital management systems, including MES operation SOPs, system maintenance specifications, data backup mechanisms, and exception-handling processes, to ensure stable and continuous system operation during mass production ramp-up.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Manufacturing, Process, Quality, Equipment and IT, as well as external system vendors, to promote new production line MES deployment, function iteration and digital transformation projects.
  • Optimize MES data acquisition logic for silicon cell production characteristics, realize full-process traceability of material consumption, process parameters, test data, and defective information, and support yield analysis and quality closed-loop management.
  • Lead MES system technical transfer from pilot line to mass production, sort out system version iteration rules, identify digital bottlenecks in production, and drive continuous optimization of manufacturing digitization level.
  • Adopt data analysis and root cause analysis to solve typical system and data exceptions during production, cooperate with cross-functional teams to complete problem rectification and CAPA closure, and support continuous process improvement.

We are looking for people who

  • Bachelor’s degree or above in Computer Science, Information Engineering, Automation, Mechanical, Electrical, or related fields.
  • 3+ years of MES system implementation, secondary development and on-site operation and maintenance experience in lithium battery or new energy manufacturing industry.
  • Familiar with battery production business processes, proficient in MES module functions such as process routing management, data collection, quality control, material management, and production report statistics.
  • Proficient in SQL database query and optimization, familiar with industrial Ethernet, PLC communication, machine data docking, and industrial interconnection principles.
  • Capable of independent requirement sorting, function customization, problem troubleshooting, and system version iteration; experienced in production line NPI and mass production digital support.
  • Familiar with automotive industry quality management systems such as IATF16949, able to standardize MES data management and meet audit requirements.
  • Equipped with cross-functional coordination, project management, and vendor communication capabilities; competent in on-site system troubleshooting and English technical document output.
  • Proficient in English for technical document reading, global technical meetings, and technical report delivery.
