Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Senior/Staff Industrial Engineer to join our production team. In this role, you will oversee production line setup and layout, ensure optimal capacity planning, and continuously improve manufacturing efficiency. You will lead workflow streamlining, conduct time and motion studies, utilize CAD/AutoCAD tools for layout and design improvements, drive quality and cost control initiatives, and apply ergonomic and safety principles across the production floor.

Responsibilities

1. Process Optimization

  • Analyze workflows to eliminate production bottlenecks and streamline manufacturing processes.
  • Conduct time and motion studies to set labor standards and identify inefficiencies.
  • Implement Lean manufacturing tools such as 5S, Kaizen, and Value Stream Mapping (VSM) to drive continuous improvement.
  • Reduce cycle times and improve throughput on active assembly lines.
  • Lead initiatives to reduce waste and enhance operational efficiency.
  • Regularly analyze production data to identify improvement opportunities and recommend solutions.

1. Facility & Layout Design

  • Oversee production line setup and layout to maximize workflow efficiency.
  • Design and optimize factory layouts using CAD/AutoCAD or similar software.
  • Optimize material flow from raw goods receipt through to shipping.
  • Minimize handling steps and transitions to reduce product transit damage.
  • Responsible for capacity planning, including resource allocation and equipment utilization.

1. Quality & Cost Control

  • Monitor defect rates and lead root-cause investigations to drive corrective action.
  • Track production costs against annual operations budgets.
  • Justify capital expenditures (CapEx) for new machinery and equipment purchases.
  • Determine and monitor overall production capacity.

1. Safety & Ergonomics

  • Assess employee workstations and apply ergonomic principles to prevent repetitive strain injuries and improve workplace safety and comfort.
  • Enforce OSHA compliance across all automated machinery cells and production areas.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement process improvements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience, preferably in semiconductor, optoelectronics, and volume engineering.
  • Proven experience in production line setup, capacity planning, and resource management.
  • Proficiency with CAD/AutoCAD tools for factory layout and design.
  • Strong background in workflow optimization, time studies, and motion studies.
  • Hands-on experience implementing Lean tools such as 5S, Kaizen, and Value Stream Mapping (VSM).
  • Experience tracking production costs against budgets and justifying capital expenditures (CapEx) for new machinery.
  • Knowledge of ergonomic best practices and OSHA compliance requirements in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with regular data analysis and waste reduction strategies.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
