About the role

Senior Software Engineer (Full Stack)

Location: New York City | In-office

The Mission

“Leading healthcare into the agentic era.”

Every day, patients call their clinic to schedule an appointment, ask a question, or request a prescription refill. Behind each conversation is a busy healthcare team coordinating people, information, and systems.

Taxo builds Voice AI agents that take on this administrative work. Our agents connect with EHR and practice management systems to help teams handle patient intake, complex scheduling, and refill requests, with reliable workflows and clear handoffs to people.

The Opportunity: Build the Product End to End

As our Senior Software Engineer (Full Stack), you’ll build the application layer around Taxo’s AI agents. You’ll work across interfaces, application services, and product data, turning complex healthcare workflows into software that people can use every day. You’ll independently own features from discovery and technical design through implementation, launch, and production operation, building on shared healthcare services and connectors owned by the platform and Healthcare Intelligence teams.

What You’ll Do

  • Ship End to End: Independently design, build, and ship end-to-end features for healthcare teams, from clear interfaces to the services and data models behind them.
  • Connect the Workflow: Develop application APIs and product workflows that use shared healthcare services and connectors to support scheduling, intake, and other operational workflows.
  • Practice Product Engineering: Turn product requirements and customer feedback into practical technical designs and shipped software.
  • Build for Reliability: Improve performance, reliability, and observability across the application and its external dependencies. Build secure sensitive-data handling, access controls, and auditability into the product.
  • Set the Standard: Write tests, strengthen CI/CD, and make releases easier to validate and operate.
  • Shape the Architecture: Collaborate with voice AI engineers and product colleagues, review code, and help the team make sound architectural decisions.

The Stack

We move fast with a modern toolkit:

  • Frontend: React, Next.js
  • Backend: Node.js (TypeScript)
  • Data & Infrastructure: PostgreSQL, AWS
  • Intelligence: LLMs and Voice AI integration

Who You Are

  • The Builder: A track record of independently owning production web applications across frontend and backend systems, from technical design through launch and ongoing operation.
  • The Full Stack Engineer: Strong TypeScript and JavaScript skills, with hands-on experience in React or Next.js and Node.js.
  • The Systems Thinker: Practical knowledge of relational databases, API design, authentication, authorization, and external integrations, with experience handling sensitive data securely and building auditable systems.
  • The Problem Solver: The ability to investigate production issues and balance speed with maintainability and testing.
  • The Product Partner: Product-minded judgment and a habit of following a feature through to its impact on users.
  • The Owner: Clear communication and comfort making progress when requirements are still evolving.
  • Bonus: Experience with LLM-powered products, voice AI, EHR integrations, or building an early-stage product into a reliable production system.

Why Taxo

Healthcare teams should be able to spend more time on patients and less time on administration. Help us build the products and company that make that possible.

  • 🧠 Practical AI Work: Build the interfaces and systems that turn AI capabilities into useful healthcare products.
  • 🏥 Impact That Matters: Make it easier for healthcare teams to complete the administrative work around patient care.
  • 🛠️ End-to-End Ownership: Work across the stack and see your decisions reach users, from the first release onward.

Compensation

Base salary: $170,000–$210,000 USD annually

Equity: 0.15%–0.40%

Benefits: Health coverage

How We Work

Taxo is a small, fast, high-conviction team. We care deeply about the problem, move with urgency, and take ownership of the work. We collaborate closely, make practical decisions, and keep improving through what we learn from customers.

If you want to build a healthcare AI product from the interface down to the infrastructure, we’d love to hear from you.
