About the role

Crunchyroll is scaling globally, creating unique challenges and exciting opportunities to delight millions of anime fans worldwide. The Partner Engineering team, part of the larger Ecosystem Engineering organization, works with our growing network of partners and internal teams to ensure an exceptional experience for all Crunchyroll fans.

As a fullstack Senior Partner Engineer, you will drive complex partner integrations, improve operational scalability, and serve as a key technical contributor across cross-functional initiatives. You will collaborate closely with partners and internal stakeholders to deliver high-quality user experiences, ensuring solutions are scalable, performant, and aligned with long-term business goals.

In this high-impact role, you will:

  • Lead technical execution of partner integrations, with a primary focus on the Android ecosystem.
  • Serve as the domain expert for the Crunchyroll Android TV application experience, ensuring best-in-class performance and reliability.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, Business Development, and Program Management to deliver partner-facing initiatives.
  • Design and implement scalable solutions that address partner requirements while maintaining architectural integrity.
  • Improve release processes, observability, and operational workflows to support partner growth.
  • Drive performance optimization and reliability improvements across partner platforms.
  • Contribute to technical roadmaps and help shape medium- to long-term direction within the Partner Engineering domain.
  • Mentor engineers through code reviews, architectural discussions, and hands-on collaboration.

You will report to the Senior Engineering Manager of Partner Engineering and must be based in the Hyderabad area. This is a hybrid role with 3 days in the office.

About You

We’re excited about candidates who bring:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8+ years of experience building and deploying complex systems, ideally in collaboration with external partners.
  • Some experience with native Android development (Java/Kotlin), with a focus on building high-quality, performant applications.
  • Strong understanding of client/server architectures and scalable system design.
  • Experience building backend services and APIs.
  • Experience working on performance-sensitive Android applications, particularly on constrained or low-end devices/embedded platforms.
  • Ability to balance technical trade-offs with product and partner requirements.
  • Confidence engaging both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Partner-facing experience across technical and business domains.
  • Experience integrating B2B APIs such as billing, metadata, or content services.
  • Platform development experience with Smart TV, console, Apple TV, Android TV, or web-based applications (strong plus).
  • Familiarity with embedded devices, OEMs, SoC providers, or pay TV operators (preferred).
