About the role

WorkWave is a leading provider of cloud-based software that supports every stage of a service business's life cycle—from lead management and CRM to scheduling, routing, field operations, and payment facilitation. Our core platforms (PestPac, RealGreen, WinTeam, and TimeGate) serve pest control, lawn and landscape, security, and commercial cleaning companies, from multi-billion-dollar enterprises to the smallest upstart seeking an edge.

The Role

We are seeking a Senior Software Architect who thrives on technical variety and architectural impact. In this role, you will not be confined to a single silo; you will work across domains, platforms, tech stacks, and architectures. You will lead initiatives spanning legacy platform modernization, cloud-native shared service design, and the deployment of production-grade AI agents.

As a hands-on technical leader, you will design systems, build reference implementations, mentor engineers, and set the technical bar across our engineering organization. You will also work in direct collaboration with our enterprise customers to understand operational complexities and architect robust technical solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Platform Architecture & Roadmap: Own the architecture for one or more core WorkWave platforms and shared services; define technical roadmaps, architectural standards, technical debt mitigation strategies, and cross-portfolio alignment.
  • Enterprise Discovery & Solutions: Partner directly with enterprise customers to understand their workflows, lead technical discovery, and design scalable integration and architecture solutions.
  • Multi-Domain Technical Breadth: Drive architecture across diverse service domains (scheduling, routing, payments, telematics, ERP, and payroll) leveraging modern tech stacks including C#/.NET (8–10), Python/FastAPI, Node/TypeScript, and modern front-end frameworks.
  • Incremental Modernization: Lead legacy extraction programs, safely migrating embedded business logic and stored procedures into modern, event-driven, API-first services without operational downtime.
  • Shared Services & Integration: Design re-usable, plug-and-play services capable of integrating seamlessly into PestPac, RealGreen, WinTeam, and TimeGate.
  • Cloud & Infrastructure Leadership (AWS): Lead cloud platform evolution on AWS utilizing containerization (EKS/Kubernetes), serverless patterns (Lambda, API Gateway, SNS/SQS, DynamoDB), managed databases (Aurora, PostgreSQL), and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
  • AI & Agentic Systems: Architect and deploy production-grade AI systems, including multi-agent assistants, tool orchestration, human-in-the-loop workflows, evaluation frameworks, security boundaries, and token cost governance.
  • Data Tier Architecture: Design high-performance, multi-tenant database architectures across SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and MySQL at scale.
  • Prototypes & Decision Science: Execute architectural spikes and proof-of-concepts (POCs) to evaluate trade-offs, backing decisions with rigorous empirical data.
  • Engineering Excellence & Mentorship: Drive architecture review practices, security-by-design, CI/CD automation, and modern testing standards. Mentor senior and mid-level engineers through pairing, design coaching, and internal tech sessions.
  • Location: Verona, Italy (Remote / Smart Working options available) Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent (Contratto a Tempo Indeterminato) Level / Inquadramento: Livello Quadro (B3) (CCNL Metalmeccanico PMI Confimi agreement)

What You'll Need

  • Education & Background: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (Laurea Magistrale / Specialistica) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Professional Experience: 8+ years in software engineering, including 4+ years leading the architecture, design, and delivery of enterprise-scale distributed SaaS platforms.
  • Polyglot & Architectural Depth: Expert-level proficiency in C# / .NET (Core / .NET ), alongside working proficiency in Python, TypeScript/Node, Java, or Go. Demonstrated ability to ramp up rapidly in unfamiliar codebases.
  • Cloud Architecture: Deep experience with AWS (preferred) or Azure architectures—including Kubernetes/containers, serverless, messaging, and managed data services.
  • Data Systems: Advanced SQL expertise (SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL) with demonstrated query tuning at high concurrency, paired with practical NoSQL experience (e.g., DynamoDB).
  • Distributed Systems: Strong grounding in Domain-Driven Design (DDD), Event-Driven Architecture (EDA), microservices, and multi-tenant SaaS architecture.
  • AI / Emerging Tech: Practical experience or strong proven aptitude in building production LLM/agentic workflows and utilizing AI-assisted software development practices.
  • Communication & Collaboration: Exceptional communication skills in English (written and verbal), with the ability to articulate trade-offs across executive, engineering, and enterprise customer audiences. A collaborative, low-ego leadership mindset.
