About the role

Liquid Personnel is recruiting an Adult’s Social Worker to join its client’s Mental Health team, based in Dudley. This is an excellent opportunity for a highly skilled practitioner to provide professional leadership, expert social work interventions, and support to adults experiencing mental health needs and their carers.

The successful candidate will act as an exemplary practitioner, promoting strengths-based and person-centred practice while managing a complex caseload. You will work collaboratively with service users, carers, health professionals, and partner agencies to support positive outcomes, maximise independence, and ensure individuals remain active and valued members of their communities. This role requires a confident practitioner with strong knowledge of Adult Social Care and Mental Health legislation, safeguarding practice, risk management, and multidisciplinary working.

What will your responsibilities be?

  • Managing and monitoring a complex caseload involving adults with mental health needs, safeguarding concerns, and high levels of risk.
  • Undertaking Care Act assessments, reviews, support planning, and interventions using strengths-based and person-centred approaches.
  • Completing Mental Capacity Assessments and contributing to Best Interest decision-making processes where required.
  • Leading safeguarding enquiries and making threshold decisions in line with Adult Safeguarding procedures and the principles of Making Safeguarding Personal.
  • Providing professional leadership, mentoring, and support to less experienced social workers, ASYEs, students, and social care colleagues.
  • Participating in duty systems and supporting operational decision-making, including deputising for the Assistant Team Manager or Team Manager when required.
  • Chairing and facilitating assessment, planning, safeguarding, and review meetings.
  • Coordinating, implementing, and reviewing support plans to ensure individuals receive effective and outcome-focused services.
  • Working collaboratively with mental health services, community teams, families, carers, and partner agencies to deliver integrated support.
  • Promoting independence through strengths-based practice, community resources, Direct Payments, and Personal Budgets where appropriate.
  • Contributing to service development, quality assurance activities, and continuous improvement within the team.
  • Maintaining accurate, timely, and high-quality case records, assessments, reports, and documentation in line with legislative and organisational requirements.

Qualifications and Experience

To be successful in this role you must have;

  • Professional Qualification: MA, BA, BSc in Social Work, Diploma in Social Work, or CQSW.
  • Registration: Must be registered with Social Work England.
  • Experience: Significant post-qualified Adult Social Care experience, including working with adults experiencing mental health needs and managing complex casework.
  • Legislation Knowledge: Strong understanding of the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005, Mental Health Act 1983, Human Rights legislation, and Adult Safeguarding procedures.
  • Leadership Experience: Experience supporting, mentoring, supervising, or developing less experienced practitioners.
  • Safeguarding Experience: Proven ability to lead safeguarding enquiries, manage risk, and make defensible professional decisions.
  • Assessment Skills: Strong assessment, analytical, communication, and report-writing skills, with the ability to work autonomously in complex situations.
  • Multi-Agency Working: Experience working effectively with health colleagues, mental health services, carers, and partner organisations.
  • Driving Licence: Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle is desirable.
