About the role

Applying to Paxos? Our only careers site is paxos.com/careers, and we only recruit via @paxos.com email. Details below.

About Paxos

Today’s financial infrastructure is archaic, expensive, inefficient and risky — supporting a system that leaves out more people than it lets in. So we’re rebuilding it.

We’re on a mission to open the world’s financial system to everyone by enabling the instant movement of any asset, any time, in a trustworthy way. For over a decade, we’ve built blockchain infrastructure that tokenizes, custodies, trades and settles assets for the world's leading financial institutions, like PayPal, Venmo, Mastercard, Interactive Brokers and Charles Schwab.

About the team

The Accounting team provides in-depth guidance to the rest of the organization on financial results, delivering insights that shape key decisions from daily operations to long-term strategy. Within Accounting, the Revenue team makes sure Paxos’s revenue is accurately billed, recognized and reported across its products and legal entities. The team solves complex accounting questions in an environment with new regulations, technologies and business models. That work supports Paxos’s mission of building a more open and inclusive financial system.

About the role

As a Senior Revenue Accountant, you’ll own key parts of the monthly revenue close, from preparing and reviewing accruals and journal entries to reconciling billing and revenue data. You’ll apply ASC 606 to new and existing customer arrangements and help document accounting conclusions. You’ll also find ways to make revenue processes more accurate, scalable and automated. You’ll work closely with Product, Sales, Treasury, Strategic Finance and Operations to understand how new deals and products affect revenue, and you’ll support audit requests. This role is critical to delivering accurate, timely revenue reporting as Paxos grows.

What you'll do

  • Prepare and review monthly revenue accruals, journal entries and supporting schedules as part of month-end close.
  • Reconcile billing, invoicing and revenue data across systems and resolve variances.
  • Support review of customer contracts and apply ASC 606 to determine the right revenue treatment.
  • Prepare revenue flux analysis and explain month-over-month changes.
  • Support external audit requests and prepare revenue-related workpapers.
  • Help maintain revenue accounting policies, process documentation and internal controls.
  • Identify manual processes and help redesign them for scale, including through automation and AI tools.
  • Partner with cross functional teams to understand new products and pricing and their accounting impact.
  • Immerse yourself in blockchain technology, stablecoins and enterprise crypto infrastructure, and in our regulation-first approach.
  • For folks with fewer than 4 years of relevant work experience, this is a hybrid role based in our New York City Midtown office, with in-office attendance required.

About you

  • 3+ years of combined experience in public accounting (audit) and/or in-house accounting, with a focus on revenue.
  • Hands-on experience applying ASC 606, including variable consideration, minimums and usage-based fees.
  • A bachelor’s degree in accounting and strong knowledge of US GAAP. A CPA or progress toward one is preferred.
  • Month-end close experience in NetSuite or another major ERP.
  • Strong Excel/Google Sheets skills, with experience building or maintaining reconciliation and accrual workbooks.
  • Experience using AI tools to improve accuracy or efficiency in accounting work.
  • Experience in fintech, financial services or a high-growth company (nice to have).
  • Excellent organizational, communication and cross-functional skills.
