About the role

About Us

AXQ Capital is a global quantitative investment firm. We build diverse sources of investment edge across geographies, asset classes, and trading horizons. Our strategies are grounded in rigorous scientific research and deep market understanding, strengthened by sustained investment in data, technology, and AI. Our team brings together exceptional talent from leading academic institutions and the world’s most respected quantitative firms. We foster a collaborative culture built on curiosity, rigor, and ownership, where the best ideas win and people grow with the firm.

Job Duties

Markets are noisy, competitive, and constantly evolving — finding a durable edge is one of the hardest problems in applied research. As a Senior Quantitative Researcher, you will take on that challenge and help define how AXQ approaches it. Working closely with fellow researchers, quantitative developers and firm leadership, you will turn original ideas into scalable trading strategies and help the people around you grow. Your mandate spans:

  • Leading the development of original alpha signals and strategies across global equities and futures
  • Identifying and evaluating new and orthogonal data sources
  • Shaping portfolio construction, risk sizing and capital allocation decisions
  • Bringing research into live trading, solving implementation challenges alongside quantitative developers
  • Owning the performance, monitoring and ongoing improvement of your live strategies
  • Driving adoption of agentic AI workflows to scale the team’s research
  • Mentoring junior researchers and interns

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of buy-side quantitative research experience, with a proven track record of alpha research that has generated profits in live trading
  • Deep expertise in probability, statistics, time-series analysis, or machine learning
  • Strong Python skills for conducting research
  • Experience with portfolio construction, risk management, or alternative data
  • Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD from a top-tier university in a quantitative or technical field, such as math, physics, statistics, or computer science
  • Strong sense of ownership, with the ability to communicate clearly and collaborate across disciplines

Benefits

AXQ team members enjoy comprehensive benefits, including:

  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance, with 100% employer-paid premiums for individuals
  • 401(k) with employer matching up to 6%
  • Life and disability insurance
  • Health savings and flexible spending accounts
  • Generous paid time off
  • Regular office-provided meals and team events

The anticipated annual base salary range for this position is $200,000 to $300,000, depending on prior experience and qualifications. We offer a competitive total compensation package that includes base salary and an annual discretionary bonus.

AXQ Capital is an equal opportunity employer. We welcome applicants of all backgrounds and do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, disability, veteran status or any other characteristic protected by law.
